Sun rose, leaving moon in the cold and the dark. Moon was small and empty, but Sun was extremely big and warm. Earth was bigger than Moon too, and they shared a special bond as planet and satellite, but Earth didn't talk much.
Moon huddled in, wrapping her pale, crater-marked arms around her skinny legs, floating with the stars. She was useless, unwanted by everyone, not like Sun. He gave life, she just reflected his leftover glory.

Sun set and couldn't find Moon in the cold and the dark.
"Moon, it's time!" Sun called to Space, searching for his friend. Moon didn't really want to be found, but it was Sun and she had to see him. Sun began to worry, but then his friend emerged from behind a star cluster.
"Moon." Sun was relieved to see her, and knelt down to greet her.
"Sun." she said timidly, approaching the star's knee. Sun wrapped his glowing fingers around Moon and brought her to his shoulder. Moon stepped off his hand and sat on his shoulder, sighing. Sun began to rise, as Moon often had trouble getting near Earth because of her size.
"Sun, don't do this. You don't need me, Earth doesn't need me." Moon pleaded and Sun stopped, turning his head to look at her.
"What do you mean?" Sun asked, genuinely confused. Moon hardly ever stopped him from rising.
"The humans need you Sun, otherwise they'd all die. I'm just a useless little rock." Moon closed her eyes as Sun's light flared slightly. He was angry.
Sun grabbed moon roughly around the waist, and brought her to his blazing golden eyes.
"Luna!" he began.
Sun called me Luna!
"Don't say things like that! You've never realised how beautiful and valued you are. The humans do need me, yes for light and heat, but you give them cool and quiet. Haven't you ever seen them enjoying the waves you create, the ones you say are pathetic and small. And they even look to the sky just to see your beautiful face."
He placed Moon in his palm and laid a thumb against her face, smiling warmly. Moon gazed into Sun's eyes, captivated by their passion and kindness, scared by their fiery anger.Sun stroked Moon's hair and held her up closer to the Earthly Realm.
"You always ask me for help, but I know you can do it." he said quite encouragingly. Moon clutched his thumb, feeling weak and small.
"I-I can't, Sun it's-"
"You CAN Moon! Just focus." his hand was extremely bright as the last of his energy leaves the light of Earth. Moon focused on the stars, thinking of Sun's burning passion and inspiring words. Her body started to float upwards, and Sun's warmth grew stronger.
"Come on Moon! Come on!"
His voice was happy, and it reverberated through Moon's small body.
"RISE!"
