"Heya little lady, wanna show us some tricks?" the ogre snarled, deftly flipping his rusty axe in his dirty paw.
"C'mon lets have some fun." said the elf, pulling out a long stylised blade from his sapphire cloak and holding it at her throat. They wanted her magic. Ever since the natural essence of the land had began to run out, fellow mythical creatures had to survive by scavenging and stealing from natural magic-bearers, like sorcerers and wizards. That's what April was, a witch. And now, she was being held at knifepoint by two men that weren't just going to steal some of it.
They were going to drain.
Her.
Dry.

April was already exhausted, after a day of documenting the magical and non-magical creatures in this forest for her Master, but she still had a spark in her step. With a snap of her fingers, thorny rose stems sprouted and lacerated their hands, forcing them to drop their weapons and scream. Once the elf dropped his blade from her neck, April sprinted away. Scrambling over the knotted roots and fallen leaves, she was a gust of wind streaking through the glowing vegetation, not daring to look back.

The witch saw a rising rock face up ahead, and pushed her legs harder and harder. The elf's slim face appeared in the corner of her vision, her strained eyes catching glimpses of his cloak in places where it shouldn't be. Was he here? Was he following- Her boot caught rock, and sent her flying into the air, arms windmilling as the world became a trippy mess of blurred colours. Then she landed, sliding about 2 metres on the extremely rough, but brittle, shale ground, lungs crushed and knees skinned badly.

This is what you got for being a witch apparently.

April lay panting on the ground, breath wheezing in and out as sparks ran up and down her body. The healing wasn't seamless, only just knitting up the worst of the internal injuries and leaving her with even less energy, a semi-broken body, and eyes full of tears. A scraping sound filled the dark room, sounding exactly like nails on a terracotta pot, and the witch gritted her teeth, unwilling to turn her head to search for the source. Two feet stomped down on either side of her, each with an awful set of claws longer than her entire body.

A cold, sharp talon lifted April's head up none too gently and twisted it around, making her whimper and wheeze more than before. The digit dug into her soft skin, and whenever she swallowed, it felt like it was sinking deeper and deeper. What was this creature? And more importantly, did it eat witches?

"Who the fook are ye and what're ye doin' in my cave."

The voice was cavernous, shaking her to her very core. It also seemed to be heavily Irish accented, with the undertone of something not human. Something beastly.

"Answer me or I'll be eatin' yer sorry carcass."

The claw sunk deeper and April let out a whimper.
"My name's April. I'm a witch and I fell into your cave running away from Evyn and Krukt'ar. Please, please don't eat me, please don't.." she broke down into tears, snot running down the sides of her face. To her relief,  the beast above her removed his talon from her throat, and instead dragged it against her face.
"God, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to, no stop crying. Oh jeysus."
Two large claws gently pinched her, and she hung limply as the creatures hand slid underneath her. When she next opened her eyes, April's vision was filled with two icy lakes, cirular pits in the centre of each. An average nose, dark facial hair sprouting along his upper lip and chin.

"Hey little buddy. Don't worry, I won't hurt'cha."
The giant smiled, and the witch cringed at the sight of many razor sharp fangs. April tried to move herself away from him, but her arms wouldn't hold her weight. She was at his mercy.
"But, you said.." April mumbled, and the orbs flicked downward as he chewed his lip.
"I'm sorry. I thought ye were a hunter or somethin', I won't hurt innocent little squeakers like you."
The giant sits with a boom, throwing April into the air a small bit, making her hiss with pain. His blue eyes widen and April finds herself centimeters from the tip of his nose, his pale skin everything she could see.
"Yer hurt!" He exclaimed, April nervously watching his eyes trace along her bruised and scratched up arms.
"They're f-from when I-" she began but the giant wasn't listening. He ran a claw up and down her frail figure, chanting in a tounge she knew to be Draconic and covering her in a green glow. Why would a giant know the language of dragons? Then, she looked beyond the giants face value, and saw the scales creeping around his neck and just underneath his eyes, pointed ears - also adorned with iridescent scales.

"You're a demi-dragon!?" The giant opened his eyes and removed his claws.
"Yeah. So-"
"That's so cool, I mean look at your scales, your claws." April stood, actually reaching forward and running a hand below the giant's big blues and along the nail of his pointer finger, to his amusement and shock. Then she admired her injury clear skin only for a second before reaching for her journal. "I need to write this down. Male Western Demi-dragon approximately 70 feet tall and with clear healing abilities. Voice: Thick Irish accent, deep, undertone. Intelligence: High.." April continued ranting to herself, scratching notes down with her quill, pacing along his palm.
"My name's Séan by the way." He chuckled, and the sound snapped the witch out of her journalistic trance. She turned her back to the dragon and tucked her things away, her past words and actions suddenly hitting her.
"Did I just.." she stumbled backward, not wanting to remember who she was talking to, backpedaling straight into his lips. Being so close to to his enormous fang-filled mouth made her scream.

"April, what's wrong?" She fell forward into a ball and started trembling.
"I'm sorry for ranting, and just touching you like an idiot. Please don't-"
"Hey, yer not an idiot and ye need to calm the hell down, I will not hurt ye. I think it's cute that ye like my scales, no-one else seems to.
April gasped as the giant held her close to him, rubbing her back lightly with his thumb. Her breathing evened out, she snuggled into him and took the time to check his heart rate, smiling as she discovered he was healthy and strong. No sign of this big boy dying.
"Hey, ye wanna see somethin' cool?" Sean asked, plopping April on his shoulder and grinning at her. The witch's eyes widened as he stood up, arms windmilling, and they flew around the dark cave before landing on the giant's ever blues.
"Um, sure."
With a sound like cracking knuckles, two bony horns grew from his temples and bat wings spread out behind him.
"Let's go for a flight!" he cheered, and April squealed in fear as he ran toward the cave mouth.

"WAIT WAIT THERE'S NOTHING FOR ME TO HOLD ON TO!" she screamed, grabbing the shirt in her hands as the dragon took off into the blinding sun. Immediately, Sean reached over and gently grabbed April in his fist, holding it against his chest. At first she tried to tuck herself into his flesh, but then the glowing forest caught her eye. The green leaves speckled with blue and gold melting her fear, the beautiful sun, the wide expanse of blue. The witch yelled as they soared into the open sky, letting her eyes take in all of the beautiful forest outside the dark cave, and Sean smiled widely, letting a tongue of flame from his lips as well as a soft roar.

"BY THE STARS OF AQUILA YOU ARE AMAZING!" the witch shot yellow buttercups from her fingertips as the jewel green demi-dragon climbed higher and higher into the atmosphere.
"April, remember those bandits?" he flipped over and looked at April with a murderous glint in his eye.
"How could I not.."
"Wanna go teach those assholes a fookin' lesson?"
