Poppy was having a nightmare in her sleep. She dreamt that Creek had tied her up and was torturing her. Smashing a glass bottle on her head, punching her, slapping her, even knocking out a tooth of hers. Poppy begged for him to stop, but he didn't listen. Poppy woke up panting. She was relieved that it was just a dream. But she was so stressed over the thought of Creek. She decided to go for a walk outside. Walking out in the cold always relaxed her. She started singing Sound Of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel. Singing also relaxed her. It opened her mind. She would always fantasize about singing her favorite song in the middle of a Poppy flower field. Nothing getting in between her and her song. Just her, the flowers and nature. She started singing.

Hello darkness, my old friend

I've come to talk with you again

Because a vision softly creeping

Left its seeds while I was sleeping

And the vision that was planted in my brain

Still remains

Within the sound of silence

In restless dreams I walked alone

Narrow streets of cobblestone

'Neath the halo of a street lamp

I turned my collar to the cold and damp

When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light

That split the night

And touched the sound of silence

And in the naked light I saw

Ten thousand people, maybe more

People talking without speaking

People hearing without listening

People writing songs that voices never share

And no one dared

Disturb the sound of silence

Fools, said I, you do not know

Silence like a cancer grows

Hear my words that I might teach you

Take my arms that I might reach you

But my words, like silent raindrops fell

And echoed in the wells of silence

And the people bowed and prayed

To the neon god they made

And the sign flashed out its warning

In the words that it was forming

And the sign said, the words of the prophets are written on the subway walls

And tenement halls

And whispered in the sounds of silence

As she finished up the song, she was in a dark alley. And then she heard footsteps behind her. It was Creek. But he wasn't alone. "Hello, Poppy." He said while Smirking. Behind him were Guy Diamond, and Cooper. Poppy backed away but eventually, the alley came to an end and she didn't have anywhere to go. "Please, Creek. Don't hurt me. I just want to get home. That's all." She said in a nervous voice. "Your boyfriend isn't here to save you. This is payback for what happened today." Creek said before the 3 Of them grabbed baseball bats out of their hair. They started beating Poppy. She screamed. She yelled Branch's name as well. "Aaaaaahhhhhhh! BRANCH! BRANCH! AAAAAAHGGHGH!!!" She screamed as they beat her. Eventually, they beat her so much, she got knocked out cold. They left her unconscious body there and went home. Branch woke up from hearing the screams. He looked out his window but didn't see anything. He put on his jacket, took a flashlight and went outside to try and see where those screams were coming from. He searched until he got to an alley, where he heard faint whimpers and cries from the alley. He walked down the alley. Shining his flashlight on everything trying to find where the cries were coming from. Until he got to the end. He saw Poppy laying on the ground. There was blood on her face from the cuts, both eyes black, her nose bleeding. She was in a terrible state. Branch was shocked at what he saw. "Poppy! Poppy are you OK?" He asked as he ran over to her. "Please. Please. Don't hit me anymore. The pain, it's (groan) too much. Please." She said in such a painful voice. "Who did this to you?" Branch asked as his adrenaline pumped. "Co... Cooper, Guy... Guy Diamond and Cr... Cre... Creek." Poppy replied in Agony. Branch was furious when he heard Creek's name. But there was time for raging over him later. Right now, Branch needed to get Poppy to his Grandmother as fast as possible. Poppy's house was further from the Alley than his own house so he had to go to his house. Branch picked her up bridal style and ran to his house as fast as he could.
