Last day of summer

Ashley reads a science book quietly on her bed drinking lemon ice tea. It's about to be Eleven o'clock and she is still her her night gown. Then she suddenly she hears three knocks on the door. "Honey?" A voice comes from the other side of the door. Ashley gets up and leans her ear next to the door. "Yes mom?" She quickly responds. "Shouldn't you be outside?" Ashley opens the door and says "Mom it's the last day is Summer vacation and I have to study to get ready for any upcoming tests." Her mom looks at her confused. "Tests? When you go to school don't they let you off easy and show you the things they do?
Don't you think you're overacting?" Ashley gives her a bored look. "Psh. Overreacting? It's more like being prepared." She was about to close the door but then her mother kept it open with her foot in the way. "Mom!" She struggles to shut the door."Aw come on sweetie it's not bad, go outside and enjoy yourself and then later on you can worry about school." Ashley's mother puts a fist on her hip and watches Ashley as she tries to shut the door open."Ugh, my god mom." Stares at her mom. "Just let me change at least." Her mother nodds her head. "Ok fine." Her mother takes her foot out of the way and stares at the wall, leaning on the door and waiting for Ashley. "Hurry up or I won't let you go on any up coming school dances." Ashley quickly puts her short shorts on and her red spaghetti strapped shirt on. "Fine mom." Ashley gets out of the closet, opens her bed room door,and walks to the dining room to eat breakfast.

"Didn't you say you didn't want a boyfriend?" Ashley walks back to respond her mom. "I'm only doing it so I can study. I don't have time for boys." She starts to rush to the dining room with the curls in her brown hair with blonde highlights bouncing uncontrollably. Her mother closes Ashley's door and whispers to herself, "Sure they...psh, sure they are." She walks to the garage. Ashley finished her breakfast and goes outside in the front porch and stares off in the distance. "Ugh there is nothing to do here." She sits down with a bored and tired face expression with her first on her cheek and looks down. She is so bored she swirls her finger on the concrete. "Hey Ash!" Says Bri, one of  Ashley's friends, and rides her bike with three other girls. They ride closer to Ashley's house and pulls her bike to the side. Ashley looks up as soon as she heard her voice. "Oh hey Bri!" Ashley gets up relieved she doesn't have to spend the last day of summer without seeing one friend. "We were planning to go to the lake and started to head over there. Then I saw you and thought maybe I should invite you." Ashley smiles as she heard they were going to the lake she wanted to go to but was to busy lately. "Oh that's so cool! Thanks for the offer but let me ask my mom first." Saniya puts her helmet back on and wraps the straps. "Your mom? Aren't you like... eighteen?" Ashley puts Both hands on her hips. "Correction, I am eighteen. That shouldn't even be a question." Saniya nods "Mhm. So you're pretty much an young adult." Ashley nods back. "Mhm. That's another reason I should ask. Plus I just became a young adult five days ago." Bri looks at both of them. "Well whatever you say Ash. We'll wait out here." She puts her helmet and straps the straps together.

Ashley runs back in the house and opens the front door. "Mom where are you?" She closes the door. Mom? She goes to the living room and then her mother's room. "Mom? Where is she?" She walks back down stairs and was about to head to the garage. Her mom walks behind her and Ashley doesn't seem to notice. "Oh hey sweetie!" "Ah!" Ashley turns around "Gosh mom you scared me!"Where were you?" Ashley puts her hands on her hips again. "I was in the garage." She lays the laundry basket down. "Oh well some of my friends said they were going to a lake and I was wondering if you would give me permission to go with them." She points her thumb outside the window. "Yeah sure sweetie as long as you guys are all together at all times." "Yay! Thanks mom!"
Ashley gives her mom a quick kiss on the cheek and hugs her so tight. "Love you bye!" "Bye Ashley." Ashley's mom begins to make her way into the laundry room, Bri is still waiting outside and looks at her watch. "What the heck is taking that girl so long?" Lily turns to look at Bri. "Should we go take a look?" Bri looks at lily and says "I don't know. Maybe we should-" Ashley comes rushing outside breathless. "Ok yeah. She breathes heavily again. "I'm going." Bri looks at her watch again. "Great! Lily, Saniya and I will pick our bathing suits and towels at the nearby mall. Get your bike and we'll meet you at the Great Crystal lake. Sound like a plan?" Ashley puts her helmet on and straps it "Yeah totally. See ya'll there." The three girls make their way to the mall and Ashley follows them. "Aw man my shoes untied." The three girls kept peddling their way to the mall.

Ashley tied her shoe. "Oh well. I was gonna go the opposite turn. Well I guess this is still good." Ashley finishes tying her shoe. "There we go!" Now she walks her bike on a bumpy road. Then she hears a car dashing on the road getting near her. "Ah!" She moves herself and her bike to the side. Car slows down and as the car window slides down Ashley heard the man hearing the song  Look alive in low volume. "Dang girl, take it easy I was gonna stop." Bryson chuckles and turns off the radio. "Sure you were Bryson." She rolls her eyes and starts to walk her bike again. Bryson slowly moves the car again. "Need a ride?" Ashley is really starting getting annoyed  by this guy. "No thanks I'm good." Bryson is startled and stops the car for a second but then continues to drive slowly next to Ashley. "Aw come on Ash. I'll put your favorite radio station on." He points at the radio. "Ashley looks at directly into his eyes and says, " I said no thanks. Ugh." She turns away from him. "Say what now? I'm not a stranger you knew me since second grade. I had you last year in my math, science, history and during Coyote time... Or in other words tutoring." Ashley stops then continues. "Although that's true...but you aren't my friend." "Well that's hurtful." He touched his chest and Ashley giggles.

"You might want to get on if you don't want to get kidnapped by... The werewolf." Ashley stops her bike and looks at him. "Uh, did you just say Werewolf?" "Uh do you have ears?" He starts to look up ahead of the road then back at Ashley. "Look Bryson I know what you are trying to do and that you want me to ride your car, but...that's completely ridiculous." She shakes her head and starts to speed walk. "What! Girl, have you not heard the story?" "Ugh, yeah and it's fake." Bryson looks offended. "No it's not!" Ashley gives him sass and says, "How do you know?" Ashley stops her bike and puts her right first on her hip, Bryson smiles and says "Glad you asked cause I've seen him myself." "Ashley looks up at him. "You expect me to believe you just like that? You don't even have proof of this." Bryson frowns and shrugs. "That's true, but I have seen him so yeah. I believe he's real." Ashley looks in the woods and looks back at Bryson. She takes her phone out. Well it will take me three hours to get there and-" Bryson shrugs. "Well you can go ahead and ride your bike in three hours or come with me and take an hour and a half." Looks behind him to see if he was causing any traffic by talking to Ashley. "Ugh...You know what? Fine I'll ride with you." Bryson swings his fist up then down. "Yes!" Ashley stops his little celebration. "But, If I do ride your car you have to promise me you'll stop talking to me." "Aw but Ash." "Nu-uh. What I said is final." Bryson slouches on his seat and looks at Ashley. "Fine Just give me a chance to get off and I'll put your bike in the back."

Bryson gets off opens the back door and puts the bike there. Ashley crosses her arms and taps her foot. "So you done?" Bryson opens the passenger seat and looks at Ashley. "Ladies first." Ashley gives him a sarcastic smile. "Wow, what a gentlemen." She sits down and buckles her seat belt. "Actually Bryson you can talk to me as long as you don't bring up any nonsense. Is that understood?" Bryson has a smile on his face again "Yes ma'am. Also did you know you sound like my mother?" Ashley looks at the road up ahead. "Ok never mind." Bryson does another frown. "Aw man." He drives Ashley to the lake.

ON THE WAY OVER THERE

Ashley gets out of the car along with Bryson and he gets her bike out of the car. "Thanks for the ride Bryson." She smiles at him and he smiles at her back "No problem. Also you are most certainly most welcome." He bows to Ashley. Ashley laughs and as soon as Bryson looks up at her. She turns around and blushes. "We'll see you later Ash." He gets in the car to start it and leaves. "Hey Ash I got your bathing suit!" Bri throws the shopping bag at Ashley as soon as they got off their bikes. "How did y'all get here so fast?"

"We took the short cut." Ashley looks in the shopping bag. "Hey it's cute." She measures it on herself. "Perfect fit." Yeah pretty cool huh? All black with neon colored curved lines. I knew you'd like it." "Thanks Bri. How much do I owe you?" Bri looks at her with a wise and friendly grin. "It's on the house girl no big deal."
"Oh, well thanks again Bri." "No problem girl." Everyone was taking turns going to the changing room to get changed. As soon as everyone finished changing Lily and Saniya went in the lake and started swimming. "Hey Bri what time is it?" Ash says getting in the pool.Bri goes to her bag and checks on her phone. "It is...two forty-seven." She puts her phone in the bag. Also you guys, I have sandwiches, Dr.peppers, and chips that I packed before we were off to the mall. I have extra just Incase ya'll want extra." She starts taking ziplock baggies along with a couple of bags of chips. The four girls were swimming and playing for a an hour and five minutes. "Man I'm hungry. Ya'll feel me?" Saniya was the second one out of the lake. "Uh, yeah girl I'm starving!" Lily and Ashley followed behind her. Bri gets the food and they all sit at the picnic table. Once they all finished their food they stayed in the benches and talked for a while then went back to swimming. Something unusual happened....
