"It's hard asking someone with a broken heart to fall in love again." Eric Kripke.
-Aubrey's POV-
After the meeting with Tony and the conversation with Loki, I was ready for food. I grabbed a towel and wiped the sweat off my face, Loki snapped his fingers. A flash of light and one minute later he was out of his work out clothes and in a long sleeve green shirt and black pants.
I raised an eyebrow and smiled softly, "No Asgardian clothing?"
He took a deep breath in, "Well, Midgardian customs remember?"
"I think it looks good on you." I smiled looked up at him. I could have sworn that there was a certain familiar red tint to his cheek, then again we were hot and sweaty from training
"Come on, I'm starving," I commented walking out of the training room.
He followed me out and into the living room where everyone was sitting, Nat had her legs propped up on Bruce's legs, my fists clenched and unclenched. Loki glanced down at me then at Bruce and Nat and scowled.
Thor looked up at Loki and winked, Loki looked away.
He was definitely blushing. I chewed on the inside of my lip a terrible nervous habit but, I couldn't help it with the overwhelming sense of anxiety I was feeling. Loki looked at me, he could sense something was wrong with me, I watched the mask melt once again.
Tony was too occupied with his tablet and Nat and Bruce were too occupied with each other. I quickly made my way to the kitchen seeing Clint and Steve at the stove making grilled cheeses. I couldn't help but smile, knowing that I was the one who had taught them how to properly make one. I walked up and hugged Steve from behind.
"Hey, you." He turned and smiled, hugging me tightly. I closed my eyes enjoying the warmth that radiated off of him.
"Is lunch ready?" I asked pulling away as Clint dropped the last sandwich onto an already towering pile of them.
"Yep, just get what you want." He answered, turning.
At the same time, both of them realized that I wasn't alone. On top of that Loki looked really agitated. I looked at him.
"Well, I think I'm going to take my food to my room considering..." I pointed to Nat and Bruce. Clint looked down and nodded slowly. Steve gave me a sympathetic smile his gaze lowering to his feet.
"Get what you guys want." He said, looking back up to Loki and me.
I nodded and got down two plates, handing Loki one we got our food and left.
As we walked by, Bruce looked up at me and, our eyes met for a split second, I quickly looked back down and hurried down the hall.
I stopped only for a moment at my door, my hand on the knob, I looked up to see Loki tuning his doorknob and looking at his sandwich like it was an alien substance.
My heart thundered, "Loki?" I asked, turning my head towards him. His head jerked up.
"Yes?"
"Would you like some...company?" I wanted...needed him to trust me. It was like an itch I couldn't scratch.
His eyes widened but, he quickly regained his composure. "I don't care, it's not like I can say no."
I took my hand off my knob and walked down the hall to meet his tall figure. He opened his door and I followed in.
-Loki's POV-
Why must she be so...so...loveable?
I needed, desired to know more about her, know what made her tick, learn what Banner did and get inside her head. She could be my ticket out of here.
