"My name is Sam Wilson. I'm here to help. Do you know who I am?" Sam asked softly. The small shaking form nodded.
"Pararescue Airman." It responded softly. It was a young female. She was dirty and grimy. Her brunette hair was greasy but her bright gray eyes stood out.
"Yes. I'm here to help you out. Do you wanna come out?" She shook quickly and scooted further back. "Hey, Hey, Hey. It's okay I swear I won't hurt you. What's your name baby girl?"
"Jacqueline Ozline." She said. Sam nodded as he scooted closer to her.
"That's a beautiful name. Tell me about yourself Baby Girl." He said.
"I'm 15. I work for the US government. I have my doctorate." She rambled loudly. "Mom and Father don't like each other. Father yells Mom yells back. Father gets his drinks then Mom hides me so he won't see me. Father doesn't like me very much." Jacqueline sniffed and a strong arm wrapped around her and pulled her to them.
"It's okay Baby Girl. I've got you." Sam said. As he carried her through the building an older female was heard.
"Mom?" Jacqueline said as she got out of Sam's arms and ran after the sound of her Mom. When they came to a courtyard. Both her parents had a gunman standing behind them. The man put a bullet in her father then stepped closer to her mother.
"Take another step and we put a bullet in Mommy dearest too." It was so obvious that Jacqueline wasn't listening.
"Jacqueline. Wait a minute." Jacqueline kept walking forward. The man went to pull the trigger and Sam jumped for Jacqueline. The only thing anyone could hear was the sound of a gun and a scream. Sam held Jacqueline as she screamed and cried out for her mother.
Jacqueline bolted up screaming. Sam burst through the door and came up to her. He pulled her into his arms and she sobbed into his chest.
"Its okay, baby girl. It's okay." He muttered over amd over again to her. "Tell me what happened."
"You pulled me out of the cell in Afghanistan and mom and father were killed. It's all my fault." She sobbed. He gently ran a hand through her hair.
"It's not your fault. You know that. You were confused and scared. You shouldn't have even been in Afghanistan." He scolded her lightly. When she finally calmed he checked the time. 4:25. "Get dressed we are gonna go for a jog."
She nodded but didn't answer needing a moment to collect herself. Sam left the room shuting the door softly not needing to scare her further. Sam stood in the kitchen for 20 minutes waiting for her. She came out dressed and hair up in a bun.
"How you feeling, Baby Girl?" He asked her.
"Like hell. Have you seen my bracelet it wasn't in my room?" Jacqueline asked looking through the kitchen drawers. Sam held it up and she looked at him. "Why...?"
"You let me take it to the gym since you were fixing my heart monitor." He said giving it to her. She hooked it on her wrist and stared at it confused.
"Oh right. Hold on." Jacqueline said as she opened the basement and ran down. There was rummaging and then a loud crash. "I'm okay." Sam snorted at his daughter's words. When she came back up she handed it to him.
"Upgraded it?" He asked.
"Yes now you don't have to have it hooked to your phone. I remembered you complaining about it." She said tying her shoes.
"So you Tony Starked it?" He laughed putting it on.
"Woah. Woah. Woah. Tony Stark wishes he was as good as me." She said raising an eyebrow at him. He chuckled lightly and the two left the house.
