A SECOND SET of doors soon opened, as Tatum and I walked into the somewhat descent sized room. The room was filled with anyone who was able to survive outside of the camp, and they all could be seen facing a certain direction. Everyone's backs were turned and faced Tatum and I. Tatum ushered me to be quiet as we came fully into the room. He grabbed my hand and guided me around the crowd of people, until we were right beside his sister, or I could say commander, Lilith. The room was filled with people talking but the second Lilith took her place in one of the chairs, that seemed to be the biggest out of all the other ones that were placed in a circle, everyone became silent, well, besides the common whisper here and there. Everyone soon sat as well, which indicated Tatum and I to sit on the two chairs that were closet to Lilith. Soon a man I had yet to meet stood up from his spot, he sat on the far side of the circle of chairs, and beside him was Dr. Ludwick and young Dr. Visser.
He cleared his throat then spoke in a calm but loud manner, so he could be heard from everywhere in the room.
"There has been an unfortunate turn of events. My team of scientists, along side the help of Dr. Ludwick and Dr. Visser, are sad to report that the Acid rainstorm will not just stop in the city. It has changed it's path and will be heading straight for us"
There was a great big gasp that traveled around the room, as the people became very disoriented and began to speak out. Loud voices were soon calling out and people were talking like they were when I first entered. Slowly turning my head to Lilith, I see her tapping her fingers on the arm rest of her chair. Her nails making a loud tapping sound as she took in the information.
She soon raised her hand and called out "Quiet all of you!"
Everyone soon silenced and looked at there leader, with full attention.
"Don't act surprised, we all knew that the storm had a high possibility of hitting us" She said, being a realist before continuing "This only confirms it. The team that was sent out had radioed us back with a location that we all could go to, that offers protection from the storm"
The people cheered, for a moment before silencing once again.
"But don't feel to safe." She paused "There is still lots of work to be done. For starters everything at camp needs to be packed up and transferred over to the safe spot, tents, clothe hangers, the fire supply's, everything. Luckily the buildings have storage areas where the medical supply's can go during the storm and not get burned, but that doesn't mean all of us will be able to fit in there if we're late to our destination"
A woman from the back soon stood up and spoke "What about the children?"
"She has a point. We have 60 people in this camp, 45 are adults and the other 15 are children. We both know the kids will be to excited to leave camp, for a bit, to stay close when we're moving everything." Dr. Visser said.
"I hope you have a plan for that" Dr. Ludwick said.
Lilith went silent she sat back in her chair thinking. She clearly didn't have a plan but luckily for her I had an idea.
"Why don't 1 person per family travel with the children into town, and remain there to watch over them at the safe spot, while the rest of us stay back and pack?" I pause "It'd get them out of the way so things can move faster, plus it'd be safer for everyone. We'd be able to move everything without needing to add pressure to watching them while we're out"
Lilith smiled as she soon said "Great idea. Alaska's right, 1 person per family will be assigned to the children with a map of the coordinates" she paused" Dr. Visser you will be in charge of choosing those people, since it's such a big concern for you"
He nodded but seemed to be bit un-please with his role.
"Dr. Ludwick?" Lilith asked.
"Yes?
"I want you and your staff to pack up all the most common stuff we'll need for colds, cuts, or other sickness."
"Yes Ma'am"
"Oh and one question?"
"Yes?"
"I want to know how long we have before the storm hits the safe spot and how long it has to hit us"
"Um, are you sure you wish to ask this question in suck company?"
Two men from the back soon stood up and screamed out "We have the right to know how fast we should be moving!"
"Here! Here!" Everyone screamed out in unison.
Dr. Ludwick soon stood up with a frown, as a strand of his grayish hair went into his face. "Unfortunately, we have an hour to get everything out of this place, before the acid rain storm hits, but! We do have 2 hours until it hits the safe spot"
Lilith stood and barked out an order "Then lets get to it! Everyone get to work!"
Everyone stood up, and I could see half of the people going to Dr. Visser. They must be the people evacuating the children. Soon I stood up and Tatum nudged me to get to it as we ran out the building. We shoved a bit and pushed our way through but the second we hit outside, my eyes went to the sky. The sky was turning green, and in the distance I could see the rain.
