The Greenhouse Academy...Continued

Chapter 3

"I am only going to be gone for one week, it is not that long," I said to Daniel while packing clothes into a suitcase, walking around trying to figure out what I should bring.

"Will you at least tell me why you are leaving in such a hurry, I mean Alex is doing the same thing to me," he said to me.

"I promise, you will know soon enough but just not right now, and that is the best thing, it is just a family emergency. We will be back in one week, it is not like it is an eternity.

He finally walked out. I hated not telling the whole truth to Daniel. It was best if he didn't know right now. Alex met me at the door as we stopped "You ready to figure out this mystery?" Alex asked me confidently.

"Yep," I said back. And we left.

Right as we were about to walk out of the door, Daniel caught my hand and pulled me back. "Please promise me whatever you are doing you will be safe, I would never forgive myself if something bad happened to you," he said back, and tears welled up in my eyes.

"I will," I said back.

The first hour car ride was silent. Instead of listening to the music and being happy on our way home, I had earbuds in listening to my queued music on my phone because everything was so sad.

"You want lunch?" Alex asked me. That was the first words he has said the whole car ride.

"Sure," I said. As I took the earbuds out of my ears and unplugged them. I put my phone in my back pocket, and my earbuds in the glove box in front of me.

We walked into a fast food restaurant that we would always go to on our way back from our yearly family beach trip. This was the only one in California.

We were here just a month and a half ago. And It was weird that we were here now, in the fall. After we ordered they brought our food out to us, and we ate...in silence, again.

The last hour we were in the car Alex and me though of scenarios that could be happening to Mom and Dad right now. We were scaring ourselves half to death.

————————Back at Home—————————

We got out of the car and Alex opened the garage door by typing in the pin in a keypad. Both mom and dad's cars were in there, we continued inside.

Alex went in dad's car and got out two metal guns, "What are you doing, are you crazy?" I asked him as he pushed one in my hand.

"Don't point it at me, it is not my plan to get shot today," he said back, not answering my question.

He walked in front of me, crouched. When we were younger my dad would take Alex and me to the gun range at the FBI unit and shoot guns with him. He opened the door, "Mom? Dad? Are you there?" he said worried, walking in slowly.

We walked throughout the house a couple different times until he yelled "Clear!"

I chuckled at him, rolling my eyes and he smiled trying to hold in a laugh. "If mom and dad are not here than somebody must have done something with him," I said as he looked at me worried, and I frowned back.

"I am calling Daniel," I said to Alex as he nodded his head and we got back into the car.

I went to the contacts and scrolled down to his name and called him. "Hello?" He said.

"Okay I know I said that this would only take a week...well that might not be true and we also need your help," I said to him as he paused for a few seconds before talking again.

"Okay, but I need to you to tell me what is going on over there,"he said and I hesitated to tell him for some reason.

"Okay so Alex and me talk to our mom and dad every night since we got back to the Greenhouse, cause you know it is hard to cope when you mom is considered dead for a year, so after a while dad wasn't with mom anymore and she said he was always working late, but Alex and me both know that he never works past 6:00, and so we got here, and it kind of looks like they have been kidnapped," I said to him as there was this scary silence.

"Don't say that Hayley!" Alex said to me.

"It is true Alex," I said back as he turned the other way.

"Okay, babe I will be there as fast as I can, in the meantime keep me posted about anything that happens," he said, as I also heard a car door shut.

"Please be careful," I said back as I hung up the phone.

I wanted to listen to the radio while we waited for Daniel so I turned it on. I went to a station and it said four people escaped from prison. I kept turning the dial and that was all they were talking about. "Three inmates were found missing from the California State Penitentiary this morning."

Alex and me both looked at each with a confused look, "Could those four people be Daniel's mom, dad's old co-worker, and Jason?" Alex asked me as I shrugged my shoulders. I cut the radio off and we waited in silence.

————-1 hour and 30 minutes later—————

"Okay, what should we do?" Alex asked as he looked up at Daniel.

"We could go to the police, tell them what is happening," he said back at us,

We decided to ride in Daniel's car to the local police station. Alex and me got out of our car, then got in his car and we drove off.

He turned the radio on to here the sound of the woman "The inmates have been identified as Judy Hayward, Jason Osmond, and Eric Simmons. If you have any information please contact your local police station,"

We all looked at each other and Daniel started the car and we headed toward the police station.

We walked in the police station and walked up to the counter. "I would like to file a missing person," I said to the lady behind the counter.

"Okay, what's the name?"

"Actually there are two people," Alex said as the lady sighed.

"Okay, how long have they been gone?" She asked.

"Well I don't really know, at least since this morning," I said.

She gave me and Alex a price of paper to fill out  while Daniel talked the lady about Judy, his mom.

We left again and decide to wait at my house for anything to happen. "Maybe we should tell somebody else, like Louis he needs to know what is happening," Alex said.

Daniel pulled out his Louie and called Louis a few seconds later he said "Hello, Daniel, how are you?" He asked him without any emotion.

"I am fine, I need to tell you something though. Jason and my mom and somebody else broke out of jail somehow, were you aware of what that?"

"No, I'm afraid I wasn't, I will take care of it though, Goodbye Daniel.

Alex turned on the television, he shouldn't have though, because what we saw was jaw-dropping.
