Chapter 13

Hayley's POV

"Daniel, you want me to marry you? I am only eighteen" I said, I was so surprised.

"Yes we could have a ceremony in a few years, but we could be engaged now." he said in a hopeful voice.

"Then Yes!" I said as he took the ring out of the box and put it on my finger, everybody in the restaurant clapped and cheered.

We got back to the Greenhouse and we sat down without telling anybody what just happened. Alex came and said hey to us before seeing the ring "Woah, what is that?" he said loudly and everybody looked over here.

"We are engaged!" Daniel said and everybody cheered again. I guess because Daniel was so popular at the Greenhouse.

Later the next day Daniel and me came by after lunch. We didn't sit with any of our friends because they said they were going to eat off campus. Daniel asked if we could go too but they said no, I think it made him upset.

About 1:30 we went back to the clubhouse, the door was locked so he turned on his Louie and unlocked it and opened the door. When we went in it was totally dark. Black papers covered the light that was supposed to come in through the windows. He opened the door and everybody popped out and yelled "Surprise!"

The whole clubhouse was decorated with different colors but mostly purple and yellow. There was a banner that said 'Happy Engagement, Hayley and Daniel!' I couldn't believe that the but this together in just an hour. "I told you they weren't mad at you," I said to Daniel and he smirked.

There was so much food cupcakes, chips, ice cream, cookies, sandwiches, crackers, and most elegant foods that would be at an engagement party. Louis was there too. "I am so sorry that your mother is not here to be here at this party," he said to Daniel.

"That is okay, I am not really ready to see my mother, especially after she broke out of prison and did all of that stuff to Hayley's mother. She is a fugitive and I hope they find her and Jason soom," Daniel said back to him and he nodded.

"Well, Congratulations to your engagement Hayley and Daniel," Louis said to us and we both nodded.

After the party was over about 5:00 we tried to help clean but nobody would let us. They were serious too I tried to grab a stack of cups to put up, Brooke came over and took them from me "No, Daniel and you are not going to help clean," she said and I rolled my eyes and walked off.

Alex's POV

It was Saturday, I wanted to go and check on the house so Hayley and Daniel decided to come with me. We left about 1:00 right after eating lunch and planned to to be back around 8:00. Just in time before a pep rally that started at 8:30. We planned to bring our uniforms in case we didn't have time to change after we come back.

The ride there was long, I spent the time thinking about what it might be like if we solved the mystery and our lives were normal again. Our lives are never normal anymore. At about 2:00, we stopped at a gas station to get fuel and a snack. Daniel pumped gas and I brought out everybody's snacks.

First I drove the first hour and then we switched and Daniel drove the second hour. Hayley and Daniel were in the front seat and I was in the back seat.

I must have fell asleep because I woke up by the passenger seat hitting me on the head. "Wake up! We are here," Hayley said and I slowly got up and got out of the car.

We were at our house. " You didn't have to hit me with the car seat to wake me up," I said to Hayley and she laughed at me, I rolled my eyes.

Hayley took her car keys out and put them in the door " The door won't unlock!" she said trying to turn the key take it out and try again.

"I guess we have a trip to take to the Los Angeles Police Department," Daniel said and we got back in the car and headed to the local police department instead of the LAPD. We walked in and had to wait a while before talking to a police because we haven't ever been there to report anything. A police came back with brown hair, the guy was skinny and was about five feet and seven inches "Hello, I am Officer Williams," He said.

Hayley's POV

This guy is so suspicious, I knew this was not an actual Officer Williams. He told us there was nothing we could do about the locks. I was going to call tonight after the pep rally and see what they say about that.

We got back around 6:00, we went to eat before going back to the Greenhouse. We also shopped at the mall because I didn't waste Daniel's fuel for just going to a police department that was two hours away from the Greenhouse.  Mere and Owen met us at the mall and I introduced Daniel. They were happy that I was engaged.

Later that night I got a call. It was the LAPD. I answered the phone "Hello?" I said.

"Hello, this is Officer Matthews. Is this Hayley Woods?" he asked and I nodded.

"Yes it is," I said back

"The local police department at your house has found something suspicious that was found in your house," he said back to me.

"What is it?" I asked and I heard him exhale loudly.

"Well I don't really know. It is metal, maybe stainless steel. It is in a shape of a triangle," he said and I was confused, angry, and surprised all at once. I gave Daniel that a year ago after we found my mother. It was a flash drive.

"I have to go, I will be down there later or tomorrow," I said and he said okay before I hung up and ran and tried to find Daniel.

I found him in the main building,"I need to tell you something, do you have that flash drive?" I said.

"Yeah, it is in my locker back at the clubhouse. Why, what is wrong?" he asked me and I grabbed his hand and pushed the elevator button as fast as I could to an elevator and we went up to the clubhouse.

"Will you tell me now what is wrong and why you are so worried about the flashdrive. It is in my locker and it is safe," he said to me and I shook my head.

"No, its not, Its at the police station. They found it on the detective's desk," I said and Daniel opened his locker and threw everything out but of course, the flash drive wasn't there.

"Who took it?" he asked and I shook my head.

"It could have been Jason, Marcus, or even your mother. You know that the surveillance cameras go down for an hour at three in the morning every morning for the testing. They could have snuck in then," I said back to him and he nodded.

"How did you just find this out?" Daniel asked me.

"Officer Matthews found it on Officer Williams' desk this morning at the police department," I said and he made this confused face.

"Then I guess Marcus took it then. But I don't think he would do this, like we all know he is the one the gave us the word to dehypnotize, Brooke," he said back and I nodded.

"Maybe he is being forced to. By your mother and Jason. We all know they are working together. We need to find out how to stop them, and it needs to be soon,"
