Emaline's POV
I walked into school Monday morning and couldn't wait to see Kate. I felt bad for ignoring her and I wanted to apologize because I hated hurting her in anyway. I was planning on asking what was going on between her and Luke. If it was really anything it would be fine by me and I would move past this. I put on an outfit this morning that's not my typical style. But I really did like the stuff on me, it felt more like myself. I had put on a crop top with polka-dots on it and then a red flannel over it along with blue jeans and a belt to keep them up. I began to walk over to the taller girl who had me mesmerized by her and her beauty. She was amazingly special and now I needed to talk to her. As I walked into the hall I walked up to Kate and Leslie as they were at her locker. I smiled when I saw her. "Hey," I said to her as I finally reached where she was. She smiled back at me, "Hey." She said to me. She looked me up and down, "Who are you and what have you done with Emaline?" She asked jokingly with a chuckle followed. I looked at her all seriousness hoping on this to go well. "Can we talk?" I asked her. "Yeah, Yeah of course," She said to me as we began walking into another hall near by.
We walked into an stairwell that didn't have anybody in it and we sat down on the stairs, together. "I'm sorry I ignored you on the bus ride home, that was really shitty," I said to her with a frown on my face. "It's okay, I figured you were still upset about Oliver," She said with true honesty but a frown planted on her face as well. "Yeah right, screw him," I said to her as I chuckled and rolled my eyes. "Damn straight," She said to me while she smiled. "That night at the hotel, the things you said, that you thought I was perfect, did you mean it?" I asked her looking solely into her eyes and starting to breathe heavier. I was nervous. She gulped and then said, "Yeah," with her head nodding yes. I looked over at the ceiling, "I'm confused because you said that and then we almost," I was interrupted by two kids walking into the hall and then walking out. But Kate knew what I was talking about. We both brought our attention to the kids then back at each other. "I saw you and Luke holding hands, so I guess I was wondering if you guys are a thing or, If you are, it's totally cool," I said to her before she started. "No we're not, we're just friends, or we were I don't really know right now," she said to me frowning and I felt upset that I had over exaggerated this whole thing. I moved forward, and I sighed, "Do you like me?" I asked as I looked down at her pants then up into her eyes. She leaned forward, "What do you mean?" She asked and I chuckled then going to play with her pant leg. "You know what I mean," I said chuckling with a smile on my face. We looked at each other for a second before I broke the silence. "I like you, is that okay?" I said to her. "Yes," She said to me and I smiled and chuckled again. The bell rang and took our attention away.
"Um," I said as we grabbed our stuff and sat up from the stairwell both of us still smiling. "Which way are you going?" She asked me as she put her backpack over her shoulder. "Um, that way," I said pointing behind her. "I'm the other way," she said pointing behind me. "Uh, so," She said before I cut her off. "Want to come to my place after school?" I asked her still with a giant grin across my face from the excitement. "Sure," she said with a smile across her face. "Meet by your locker?" I asked, she just nodded slightly to acknowledge it. "Cool," I said to her as I started to walk. "See you later, sweetie," I said as I walked on by and started heading to my class. I could tell she was smiling.
*End of The Day*
I walked past Kate's dad to get over to Kate who I saw standing in the hall looking beautiful as ever. I walked up next to her. "Hey," I said to her with a smile on my face as I was excited about hanging out with her. "I just saw your dad," I said after and she looked kinda upset which made me highly confused. "You ready?" I asked her. "I can't hang out today," she said to me and I felt a little hurt but I knew she most likely had a reasonable reason why. "Why not?" I asked hoping it wasn't because she didn't like me. "There's something I have to do, it's not you," she spit out quickly talking really fast. "I promise, I, I really," She went to go on but I cute her off, "Kate, it's okay, I get it," I said to her with a smile on my face and just looking at her. I knew she wasn't lying. "Rain check?" I asked her with a tilt of my head and a smile. "Yeah, thanks," she said as she calmed down and looked relieved. She then walked away and I felt totally alone just standing in the hall so I went to go and set up the treehouse anyway.
