Dawson and I had made our way down to the bottom floor unnoticed. Our plan was to fry the system so the alarm wouldn't go off.
The main door was straight ahead. I followed closely behind Dawson. He opened the door with just enough space for us to slid out.
The fresh, chill of the air hit me straight away. I shivered as I looked up to the sky. It was a beautiful dull purple.
I felt Dawson's hand around mine as he dragged me towards his motorbike. We decided it would be faster than running to the wall. We weren't stupid though. We knew that we couldn't take it with us. Sooner or later we would run out of fuel. Also, it would be easier for the guards to track us.
Taking my seat behind Dawson, I slowly slithered my arms round his waist. Then we were off. Taking the route round the town, we found ourselves by the control centre in minutes.
"Be quick Liz." Dawson ushered me of the bike. "And for gods sake, be careful"
Giving Dawson a reassuring nod, I jumped of the bike.
I ran into the small shed, to see Todd (the guard) fast asleep. He had laid out over his chair and desk - With his legs crossed at the ankles, his chubby hands rested on his beer belly and half eaten doughnut on top of his chest.
I scanned the room for the control panel. I had to fry it because it would detect Dawson and I leaving. Sighting it in the far right corner, I stalked slowly towards it. Careful not to wake Todd in the process, I opened the hatch. Het rose from my vain's and crackled under my skin.
It's melting time, bitches.
Iplaced my - now boiling - right hand over as many wires as I could. Instantly, the smell of burning rubber filled the room. The wires quickly became a hot mass of mushy rubber and metal. I heard Todd start to stir from his sleep. That was my Que. As I removed my hand from the mush I tried to cool myself down. The tension released it's self from my body. Then I ran straight out of the shed door.
Dawson was just were I left him.
Phew. I climbed aboard the motorbike and smiled at Dawson. Relief filled his expression and he turned to face the road. Dawson revved the engine as we took off down the road.
Before we knew it we were at the 20ft wall. Dawson was off the bike and grabbing his bags in seconds. We pushed the bike into some nearby bushes. That bike was Dawson's pride and joy, he'd die if anything happened to it.
Dawson had ushered me to a close by tree. We both climbed as high as we physically could. With Dawson, obviously a couple of feet above me.
Sitting at the 3/4 mark of the tree Dawson shouted down to me. "Lizzie, I still can't see the top... Do you trust my powers?"
What did he mea- just like that the tree was covered In a layer of ice.
"Lizzie do you trust them?" Dawson asked again.
"Well how can I trust something that..." I admitted my defeat. I had no idea how to explain my confusion. "Okay I trust them Dawson. Now what are you doing."
"Being trusted"
The ice by my feet began to slither up my legs like Ivey vines. Each vine reached my knees. Now with the ice, I too began to move. It was almost like the ice was carrying me. In no time I was by Dawson's side, still attached to my ice vines though. Dawson's eyes went from my feet to his. Ice then began to Ivey it's way up to his knees. Together we rose up out of the tree and up. Until we were a foot above the wall.
I tried to peer over the wall, but Dawson had ahold of my upper arm. "Lizzie, stay still"
My body stiffened as we moved once more. This time we were going down. It was unstable.
I turned to face Dawson and grabbed his hand for support. He was so concentrated on his ice vines, my touch shocked him. We were both instantly snapped out of the air. We landed on the wet mud with a loud thud.
