After last nights events with Dawson, it was dinner time. Straight after dinner, I returned to my room, where I struggled to sleep.
The next day Aerial, Anthony and I had started to watch a movie, as we waited for Jensen and Dawson to finish getting changed.
"I hope you guys don't mind, but I have some friends coming over later." Sophia stated.
"It's okay mum, we don't mind." Anthony reassured her.
She smiled back at him and brushed some hair out of his eyes, before going back to the kitchen to continue cooking.
Jensen was the first to come down. He was dressed in a dark pair of jeans and a black jumper. He looked... Hot.
"What we watching?" He said flopping down beside me on the sofa.
"Duno, Lizzie picked it." Anthony said.
"It's called 'The Happening'." I didn't really know what it was about.
"Oh." Jensen said, seeming put out by it.
We continued to watch the movie in silence.
A while passed before Jensen leaned over and whispered in my ear. "You okay?"
"Yeh, it's just Da-" I cut myself off. I didn't want Jensen to think I that I like Dawson.
"It's just...?" Jensen pursued.
"Nothing." I tried to smile, just to assure him not to worry.
He smiled back. And of course it was beautiful.
"Would you two suussshhh!?" Aerial exclaimed, as she sent me and Jensen an annoyed look.
She had so piped up since that night in the forest when we had first met. That night she was so timid and quite. Now she was... the opposite. What was up with that?
Dawson came down soon after the film had finished. He sat down on the other side of Anthony, as Aerial put another film in the player.
The whole way through, 'Dear John' Dawson was staring at me. He didn't even try to watch the film. He just stared at me - the whole time.
Jesus Christ.
Some time later, there was a knock on the front door.
Sophia rushed to open it. I couldn't see who was at the door and I couldn't here that well either.
Muffled voice after muffled voice lead to the door finally closing.
Sophia reappeared in the living room where we were all currently sitting. Although she was smiling, I could tell it was put on.
"That was the landlord, he came for his weekly inspection." She gulped loudly. "I managed to persuaded him to come round tomorrow.."
All eyes were on her, including mine. Where was she going with this?
"Erm... there's something I need to tell you guys." She nervously coughed. "It's about what you are. What I am."
Now I gulped loudly.
"You see... they - the humans - they don't know what we are."
I had no words.
"The people that saw you come in this town, they just think your humans... like they would anybody." Her face was blank. "18 years ago - after Anthony's birth I was shunned from Amora town. I was shunned because I had a child with a human."
I think my jaw just fell off.
"Anthony... sweetie..." She address Anthony directly. "Your dad... he's the human."
Jensen shifted awkwardly beside me.
"Before you were born, there wasn't a wall around Amora town." Sophia was on edge. "When I hit 25 I became a guard of the town. My fellow guards and I were trained to fight... to fight humans."
No one dare interrupt her. We needed to know. Question time was for later.
Sophia moved over to the armchair and sat down. I noticed her hands shaking in her lap. "One day, I sort of got bored and went to play in the lake." She exhaled loudly. "And I slipped. Your father, Dominic, he saved me. My first intentions were to kill him, but I realised, I didn't have to. He saved me. Day after day we would meet up at that lake and talk for hours. I fell in love with him, and well I guess you now what happened from there." She laughed nervously.
I looked over at Anthony, to see him scrunch up his face in disgust.
"Anyway, when I gave birth to you they realised something was up. They began spying on Dom and I. When they found out he was human, they took you away from me, and kicked me out." Sophia looked up from her hands to look at Anthony. "We never thought we'd see you again."
My heart swelled at seeing the pain in her eyes.
"Dom and I decided it would be best to move to a completely different town - we've been living here ever since. They don't know who I really am - or what I'm really capable of. I tends to freak people out..." She let out a throaty laugh. "Your dad almost ran a mile when I first showed him." Sophia's stood up, then she simply disappeared.
I felt a hand on my shoulder but it wasn't Jensen's. I jumped on to Jensen out of shock. He looked very uncomfortable as I fidgeted. Suddenly, Sophia faded back, she was standing by where I was originally sitting.
Well daymn.
"Holy shit..." Jensen began.
"What's your power honey?" Sophia address Jensen, as she sat back down in her armchair.
"Well..." Jensen cleared his throat, as I moved of his lap and back to my place.
"Jensen isn't like us mum." Anthony started. "He's human. But Aerial she's a half breed... like me I guess."
Sophia's face was shocked and confused all at once.
"I guess Aerial's not 'the only one of her kind anymore'." Dawson mumbled under his breath.
Lol.
Don't laugh at his jokes Lizzie!
"What about your parents dear, do people know about them!?" Sophia suddenly looked desperate, as she spoke to Aerial.
"I guess it's my time for story telling." Aerial joked.
No one laughed.
