"Saffy jump on my back!", I yelled out to Safwan
Safwan jumped on my back and everyone created a nonsensical ruckus, just like The Sunshine Dynasty always did.
"Say cheese, my darlings!" said Amna miss
The flash of a polaroid followed by a sound of a click and therefore, such a wonderful memory had been imprinted in a piece of invaluable film. This small photo would become priceless in the years to come.
8 Years later, on the exact same day
The exact same photo, from 8 years earlier, emerged once more. After 7th grade, Tazwaar had taken the picture and put it inside a photo album.
Tazwaar took out the photo from its casing and placed it in the middle of the table so that everyone could see it.
"WOAH, I changed so goddamn much" said Rajorshi, reflecting on his change of appearance since the seventh grade
"Yeah, you're totally a 'heartbreaker' now" said Tajwid
"I agree with Tajwid, you have the looks and the mentality now." said Zayn
For 8 years, Tajwid had been hopelessly in love with Zayn. He believed throughout, that she was the 'one' for him. He knew that if he could make a move, tonight would be the night.
As always, Tajwid fumbled his words on each line as he tried to flirt with Zayn.
"H-H-Hey....Uhh...How are you?...It's been too long..8 years, right?" said Tajwid
"Spot on! I missed you a lot, times like this I need friends like you.." said Zayn
Zayn had recently been facing a lot of emotional distress. Her mother had just passed away a few months before. She only came to this party to be cheered up by her long lost friends, never wishing for the 'fling' that was ignited after the party.
"Yeah...'friends'..." said Tajwid
Tajwid had yet not known about Zayn's loss, so he was continuing his method of flirting with constant failure.
Fortunately, Zayn's saviour was quite unexpected. It was the once pimple-faced, dandruff hair, crappy jokes and broken-kidney Rajorshi. Rajorshi swooped in beside Zayn, pushing Tajwid aside with his right shoulder.
"Hey...I heard about your loss. I just wanted to let you know that I'm sorry for not being able to be there for you for the last few years. I hope we can make up for our lost time starting from today." said Rajorshi
"I missed you too much. I knew 'we' would have another chance. We can surely fill the void we left in each other those dreadful four years ago." said Zayn
Rajorshi and Zayn had a history of flings and short term relationships. They were the Barney and Robin amongst our friend circle. They last broke up four years ago. Today seemed like it would be their resurgence once again.
As I was eavesdropping on Rajorshi and Zayn's conversation, my attention was diverted in a split second. Thea had just joined our crowd. It was the first time I'd seen her since university. I thought to myself "Shit, she's gotten hotter than ever..." However, I dismissed the thought without a doubt, as Thea was my best friend since forever, and I didn't like to think of her in this way.
Slowly, the night went on and with it, many mysteries were unraveled. Perhaps a streak of constant romance was forthcoming....
