Chapter 15: pick

Toni's pov:
"Im starving", I flopped on my couch dramatically passing out on the sofa . "I would offer to bring you to pops but unfortunately I'm going out with the bros",sweet pea said . "Uh the bros", I mocked. "How about this I give you the cash and you buy yourself something to eat , go out do something maybe call up Betty or Kevin or something",he hinted. "Fine!" I growled , taking the cash off the table , not before kissing him on the the cheek and thanking him. "I love you",I said walking out the door with a playful smile. "Yea yea , I love you too",he yelled back with a grin knowing the reason for that bold gesture was because of the money he just had offered.
I didn't know who to call , I just had come back into town. So I would go to pops by myself, I've done it plenty of times before . I was driving to pops , and the open road and sweet smell of the air around me, made me feel like i could just ... just be, I guess I really did miss this sad miserable town more than I thought .

Cheryl's pov:
Kev and I were at pops just chilling talking you know . But then he had to bring up a topic that I wasn't ready for , I mean I was ready for it but I don't think I actually got down to grips with it.
"Soooooo", he dragged. "What?",I asked taking a sip from my milkshake . "So Toni's back", "so", I said shrugging my shoulders as if I didn't care . "Okay no no no , were not going to do that",Kevin said trying to get more emotion out of me. " Kevin , stop! Toni and I left things on okay terms . Which means as much as she should hate me she doesn't , and I can't get caught up in my feeling again . I love her yes and I wouldn't haste to have her back but I don't think she'll ever really forgive me. Besides I hear her and sweet pea are a thing now". I hated it . I hated that there where even rumors of a romance forming. They went on what felt like a life time road trip , and god knows what happened then. Back when , when me and Toni first broke up I was happy for them but now all I can do is throw up at the sight of them TOGETHER. Like major down grade. But as I said once before I was in no way right to make my feelings present .
"Well you didn't hear this from me , but I hear there not because of well you",he gestured towards me. "Me? why me?",I asked the hope in my voice evident . "Because I hear she can't decide between you two". Maybe I could redeem myself make it right with her get her to have me back if that's what she wanted cause that's what I wanted . A huge grin was now plastered on my face which caused Kevin to call me out . I punched his shoulder playfully and told him to shut up. The next couple of minutes were fool of laughing...

Toni's pov :
I pulled up to pops getting off of my motorcycle. I walked in ,there was the usual crowd but nobody I noticed for that matter I walked up to the counter. "Ahhh miss topaz , its been a long time , where have you've been?",pop Tate asked with a friendly smile . "Here and there" , I responded . He only shook his head smile still there . "The usual?". I nodded "for here or to go?", "to go", I said quickly. I sat at the counter on my phone waiting for my order.

Cheryl's pov:
Kev and I were done and we're going to head home , it was getting pretty late. We decided to go half on the check because both of us wanted to pay but neither of us allowed it . So we walked up to the counter and began to pay the cashier .

Narrators prospective:
Toni was still typing away on her phone . She didn't notice the two kids . The didn't notice her either . It wasn't until Kevin pulled out his wallet and a coin rolled out landing in front of Toni . She picked up the sound but still didn't look up from her phone . "Can you hand me that please?", he asked not wanting to reach in front of the stranger . Cheryl still paying for her half. "Yea sure",Toni looked up picking up the coin . That's how Kevin noticed her , Cheryl knew who the voice belonged too before she finished the two words . Toni still looking up saw Kevin, she didn't notice the redhead behind him though . "Kevin hi",she pulled him into a hug."omg how are your doing?" he leaned down to the shorter girl rubbing her back with one hand. Toni pulled away hand still on Kevin's shoulder . "Good , I'm doing good. And you?", Toni asked as a almost after thought. "Good as you can be in riverdale",they both laughed at this comment because if it wasn't true I'm not sure what was ...

Cheryl's pov:
They were greeting each other i was afraid to look in that direction so I faced forward looking at the cashier .I was done paying . So I interrupted there conversation, " kev your turn to pay". "Or right" he said ," catch you later Toni", he walked off to the cash register to go pay leaving us alone. I don't think she noticed me behind Kevin during there incounter because the look of we'll ... I guess you can say shock was evident on her face . Almost as if she thought she had another week to practice for our first 'we dated, you cheated, let's be friends' convo I pretty sure would go down. She was stumbling on her words and finally settling on a ...
"Cheryl",she said looking at me giving a head nod. "Toni", I said doing the same . Before I knew it I was being held in her arms. She was hugging me , it should've been the other way around . She let go her hands still around my waist . " how are you?",she asked . "G-g-good", i stammered my heart fluttering from the contact . She noticed this and looked down to her hands which were tightly around my waist in a confronting way. "O I'm sorry", she quickly removed her hands.
"It's fine", I said back not wanting to make the situation any more uncomfortable.

Toni's pov :
I didn't notice my hands I guess you can say I'm used of that feeling. The tension was like a thick smoke between us. It was almost like everyone was staring at us, which I'm pretty sure they weren't . It wasn't until Kevin walked up with his receipt. Instantly clearing the air , thank god for that . " hey look since everyone is still up how about we hit up the movies ?", he suggested. Cheryl followed the comment something about she was actually really tired . " I would love to, but um I promised I would take this food home. Sweet pea and I haven't ate since we got here" , I said awkwardly kinda of forcing the bad blood . I wanted to see that look on Cheryl's face it was somewhat heartbreaking , terrifying, and addicting.
"Well then , see you later Toni", she stated I nodded her a same. " Kevin lets go your my ride" , it looked like he was frightened to get in the same car as her. As Cheryl walked out the door first , Kevin mouthed the words "help me". I threw my hands up as if there was nothing I could do . As he left eyes pleading making me laugh and him, I turned back to my phone buzzing.

Pea:) : hey I'm going to be a little late , rookie serpent decided to pick the ghoulies as his first go around😬.

Toni : jeezzzz . I hope he's okay . Not ;) .

Pea;) : have a little sympathy will you . Let's not forget you first time .

Toni : correction, I didn't need to call for back up. The pain of a broken nose was honestly wroth it.

Pea:) : you're not telling the whole story I broke both of my wrist because I thought they were jumping you!!!

Toni : what you want a cookie ?

Pea:) : noooo just give credit we're credit is due.

Toni: fine . Thank you for having my back since we were 13.        

Pea:) : your welcome now excuse me while I try not to end up in the sheriffs station tonight .

Toni : so that means I can have the last of the ice cream!!

Pea:) : what no!!! Toni so help me god. If you touch it!!!

Toni : to late already eating it ;)

Pea:) : I hate you sometimes.

Toni : ily2 night pea !😄
