Nightstar sat outside Jade Mountain, his tail over his talons. He flinched away from some SandWings as they thundered past, his acid green eyes tracking them silently. Nightstar sighed, realizing he would have to meet his Clawmates and find his cave eventually. He stepped forward, entering the entrance cave of the mountain. An older dragon, with silver teardrop scales by her eyes, under her wings, and forming a bracelet like pattern on her wrist, stepped forward.
"Hello! I'm Fatespeaker. I'm pretty sure you are..." She looked down at her list. "Nightstar?"
Nightstar nodded nervously. He looked straight into Fatespeaker's eyes for a moment, and her's widened. People weren't used to his strikingly acid green eyes.
Nightstar frowned, looking down again. Fatespeaker cleared her throat, moving past the awkward moment.
"Alright, you're the last cave, in the right." The NightWing said, handing him some scrolls. Nightstar flicked his black wings, nodding his thanks. He skirted down the hallway, staying away from fellow students. A RainWing sneered at him as he walked past, which startled Nightstar. He thought all RainWings were kind and laid back.
Not lazy, as most of his tribe thought.
Nightstar slithered into his cave, finding a fellow NightWing in there. The NightWing's underbelly was gold flecked, the stars on her wings were gold as well. She had odd golden eyes.
Nightstar coughed nervously to announce his arrival.
"H-hi!" He greeted. The other NightWing turned to look at him.
"Hello! I'm Mooncrosser," She introduced, looking at him expectantly. What was he supposed to do? Was she waiting for his name?
His ears lowered as he freaked out internally.
Mooncrosser smiles kindly. "Your name is...?"
"Nightstar," He said quickly. Mooncrosser nodded.
"You can just call me Moon."
"I'm just... I'm just Star." Nightstar said softly. He slowly crawled onto a bed, made of leaves. He huffed, sending a few leaves onto the ground. Moon slithered onto a moss bed, hiding her nose as her eyes closed. Both bolted upright as a golden blur stomped into the cave.
"Alright, I'm Gold, and I'M A RAINWING PRINCE!" He announces grandly, his tail flicking. Star and Moon exchanged a glance.
"Um, hi... I'm Nightstar... well, just Star." The green-eyed NightWing said, smiling in welcome. Star's smile dropped as Gold sneered at him. Gold glanced at Moon, and he blinked. Moon blinked at him in return, confused.
Star watched silently, his ears flat. He turned his gaze upon Moon, and realized for the first time how pretty she was. Her claws were little perfect cresents, her scales were glossy. Not in the greasy way, but in the shiny, healthy way. Star had been too busy being nervous to notice. Gold had obviously noticed first thing.
Star tried to give Gold another welcome smile, but Gold shrugged it off coldly. Star and Moon exchanged another glance, raising their eyebrows as Gold swept grandly out of the cave. Three moons, Star thought, I really hope he isn't as mean as he seems...
