Chapter 20: Thanksgiving-Part 2

"If you feel uncomfortable at all or just simply don't wanna be there then just call me and I'll come get you Okay?" My mom says and I nod

"I'm sorry about yesterday" I say softly

"It's okay" she says pulling me into a hug

"We'll see you at 7?" I ask and she nods and my brother and I get out of the car and walk to the front door of my grandmas house and my brother knocks. We're quickly greeted by my grandma. She hugs my brother and I tightly and ushers us inside.

"Los niños están aquí"! My grandma shouts and my family gathers in

"Oh my god Gaby!" Andrea my cousin squeals pulling me into a tight that I gladly return

"Oh my god you're pregnant?" I squeal and she nods happily

"I'm so happy for you" I say hugging her tighter

"Gaby!" My other cousin Bella says and we hug tightly as well

After hugging most of my family I see him.

My dad.

"I'm really happy you came ma" he says calling me by my childhood nickname and I just nod

"So how's New York mija?" My aunt asks me and my father gathers around to listen

"It's great the university i got to is great and I've made a lot of friends it's definitely become home to me" I say and they all congratulate me

"I'm happy for you mija but you better remember where you're real home is pendeja"my aunt says pulling me into a hug and I nod with a laugh

The rest of the night goes smoothly and after dinner I'm sat with all my cousins

"I can't believe you guys are having kids before me" I say pointing to my pregnant cousins Andrea, Lisa, and violet and to my cousin Richards pregnant girlfriend and they all smile

"That's because she's going the smarter route" my cousin Veronica says earning a glare from my cousin Andrea and my cousins girlfriend Vanessa

"Well Violet and I are already almost 30 so we're fine" violet says with a laugh

"Shut up Lisa" Andrea says to her older sister Lisa

"So anyways any guys in your life?" Violet asks me

"Not yet but hopefully one day, I'm in no rush" I say and they nod understandingly

I look to the clock and it says 6:50

"My moms should be here soon" I say standing up

"Promise us you'll come for Christmas?" Andrea says

"Wouldn't miss it" I say hugging her along with all my other cousins as well as my aunts and uncles before going outside with Ricardo to wait for our mom.

"Gaby" a voice says and I look up to see my dad

"Leaving already?" He asks and I just nod

"Look I know that you hate me but I just wanted to say how sorry I am again for everything" he says making me scoff

"See that's the things dad you've never once apologized. Not once." I say coldly and he sighs

"Well I am now" He Says

"To late" I say rolling my eyes

"No it's not to late. Look I know I was a shitty husband and dad. I know. I hurt you and your
Mom both physically and verbally and I wish more then anything that I can take it back-but you can't!" I shout cutting him off

"You can never take it back! You can never make up for it ever! I don't care how many times you apologize or try to make amends or whatever the fuck it will still never be okay! You're the reason I still wake up with nightmare at the age of 20! You're the reason why I'm in therapy! And your the reason why I can't trust any man because I'm afraid they'll be just like you! You ruined everything for me! You ruined my life before it even got to start!" I practically scream with tears pouring down my face and he has a face of utter shock

"I know" he says quietly putting his head down

"I'll forever regret it for the rest of my life" he says softly

"Just go please" I whisper and he nods

"I love you Gaby always, you'll always be my daughter" he whispers before heading back inside

My mom finally pulls up and my brother and I hey in the car and we drive in silence

When I get home I immediately lock myself in my room and cry myself to sleep.
