I was sat on my luggage trying to squish everything inside when miraculously, I was able to zip it up and not have it rip open. I let out a sigh of exhaustion and moved my black hair out of my face.
"Olivia! Time to go!" My mom announced from downstairs. I really can't believe it. I was moving out of San Francisco and going to California. More specifically, Beacon Hills.
I should be sad that I'm leaving the place I grew up in, but if it meant seeing Scott again after 5 years, I didn't care. Scott was basically my brother, in fact I actually considered us brothers and his mom was like my second mother.
The last time I went to Beacon Hills was when I was 11 years old. We hadn't went back since, I guess my parents had gotten too busy to take me. But I knew it was something else. When I was 9, my brother Marcus had died. He was staying in Beacon Hills for the night to stay with some high school friends when we got a call saying that he had been attacked by an animal. They thought it was a mountain lion or something. My parents were devastated when they found out he wasn't going to make it. The injuries were too severe.
My brother was a huge part of my life. He taught me to defend myself and gave me amazing advice whenever I needed help with something. But like every other brother, he teased me a lot and made fun of me. I never would've thought that I missed it. I guess I lost a part of myself that day.
I trotted down the stairs with my massive luggage and stopped at the bottom. My mom and dad were waiting for me with glassy eyes. I immediately went to hug them, I hated seeing them cry. It was a weakness of mine, I clutched onto them like I was never going to let go. I breathed in the familiar scent of my mom's perfume and dad's aftershave.
I reluctantly let them go and sniffed. "You've grown up so quickly Liv, I can't believe you're already leaving us." Mom said, dabbing a tissue to her face to dry the tears that escaped.
"Don't worry mom, I'll visit you every now and then." I comforted her.
"You better." She playfully glared. I gave them one last hug before I grabbed my luggage and headed towards the car waiting for me outside.
"Aunt Melissa, I missed you so much!" I exclaimed as soon as she climbed out of the car.
"So have I Liv. Scott's been so excited to see you, he wouldn't stop talking about it to Stiles." She told me.
I remember Stiles. He and I used to spend every moment together, we were attached to the hip. I also remember having a little crush on him, but that was years ago. I'm pretty sure I have no feelings for him, but I hope he remembers me.
Aunt Melissa took my luggage and put it in the back of the car. I climbed into the passenger seat and put my seatbelt on. The drive was going to take about two hours so it would already be night by the time I get there. I also forgot to mention one thing. Tomorrow was the first day of Sophomore year. I was attending the same school as Scott and Stiles - Beacon Hills High.
I leaned my head back against the seat and closed my eyes. I could feel myself slowly drifting off to sleep and before I knew it, I was out like a light.
~~~
A honk woke me up and I opened my eyes to see that we were in traffic.
"How long was I asleep?" I asked Aunt Melissa who looked frustrated. Her expression immediately changed and she smiled at me.
"Long enough, we're almost there. Oh finally!" She exclaimed at the end of her sentence when we started moving again.
I zoned out and started thinking about what I was going to wear tomorrow. I was extremely nervous, not because I was starting a new school. But because it was in a whole other city. At least I knew a few people there, but I was going to have to make friends of my own somehow.
