I slowly opened my eyes to see the golden sunlight pouring into the half empty room, lighting it up.

I shifted in my bed and felt wide awake. This was definitely the most peaceful morning I've had since my brother had passed. Usually, I would have been awaken by flashes of a nightmare I had the previous night.

Sometimes, it was so vivid I actually felt like I was there. Most of the time, it was the same thing, a big animal with red eyes lurking nearby an abandoned house. It would run at me but I always woke up before anything happened.

"GOOD MORNING!" Scott yelled running into my room and jumping onto my bed.

"Good morning my ass." I grumbled. He just laughed and stood up to tower over me. Oh well, this was the closest thing to peaceful I could get.

"Get ready, it's the first day of school!" He exclaimed with a massive grin on his face.

"Please don't remind me." I groaned and sat up. "Why are you so happy at this time?" I asked him in disbelief.

"I just feel like this year is going to be different." He grinned.

"By the way, what happened last night?" I squinted my eyes at him since the sunlight was blinding me.

"I got home late but I think something bit me." He told me and my eyes widened.

"Bitten by what?" I immediately questioned.

"I'll tell you later at school with Stiles." At the sound of his name, a smile was plastered onto my face. He looked at me suspiciously but thankfully walked out of the room.

I jumped out of bed and mentally thanked Melissa for putting a rug next to my bed since I wasn't looking forward to stepping onto the ice cold floorboards.

Stepping into the shower, I washed off all the dirt from last night. Surprisingly, I didn't feel like a zombie but felt like I had drank five cups of coffee.

After I finished with my usual bathroom routine, I opened my closet to see everything organised. I was glad I had put everything in it's place yesterday or else I would have been late for school trying to find my clothes.

I had gotten fully dressed when I heard a ding from my phone telling me I had gotten a message. I walked over to it and took it off it's charger and looked at it.

Can't wait to see you at school - S

I knew it was from Stiles so I saved the number and went downstairs. For some reason, I couldn't take the smile off my face no matter how hard I tried.

I saw Scott at the dinner table eating a bowl of Fruit Loops and he looked up at me with milk dribbling down his chin. I scrunched my nose up at the sight and made my own bowl.

"So, you got a girlfriend?" I asked bluntly. I watched as Scott's eyes widened and he started to cough. I quickly went over to slap his back and a single fruit loop fell out of his mouth and onto the table.

"I'm gonna take that as a no." I mumbled before shovelling a spoon full of cereal into my mouth. The crunches filled in the awkward silence between us and once I was finished, we climbed into Melissa's car that she let us borrow. Scott was driving and I prayed he didn't drive like a snail on the road.

"Don't say a word to anyone about what just happened." He said. I motioned zipping up my lips and throwing the keys out of the window before grinning at him.

He rolled his eyes at me and started the engine. I bounced my knee up and down and lifted my hand to turn on the radio but a hand shot out and
grabbed a hold of my wrist. I looked up at Scott to see his eyes were still on the road and he slowly removed his death grip.
