Dedicated to SadafChoudhury
Rohan's POV:
"Come, I'll drop you home." I offered Diya as we reached the parking lot.
"Are you sure?"
"Of course I am. I mean, if you don't mind that."
"Okay. Sure then." She smiled and soon, we settled on my bike.
She sitting behind me did feel a bit odd though, as till date, no other girl except Ishika has ever rode with me, well apart from my sister of course. But I guess, that was definitely going to change some day; so well be it today.
"I'm settled" Diya announced from behind, bringing me out of my bubble.
"Uh sure." I flashed a little smile and shooted off.
But just within moments, my hands involunterily pressed the brakes abruptly, as something came into view from the rear-view mirror. Ishika? Standing alone? I looked back with a jerk to confirm and there she was. Actually there.
"Ishika!" Panic striked through me as I took in the way she was in. She looked - vulnerable to say the least. But why so? And why alone? Where's Sachin? Millions of thoughts started flooding my mind in that one fraction of a moment. As if on cue, Diya already got off the bike, so I quickly left it where it was and ran towards Ishika.
"Ishu. Why are you standing alone here? And where's Sachin?" I asked looking around.
"Err.. He had a call from home so he...left."
"Oh. And why exactly didn't he drop you home first?"
"Um.. Maybe he was getting late so.."
"Really?"
"Y..yaa. And..and I came here to see if I could go home with you but.." She glanced a look towards Diya "Errh.. never mind. I'll manage." She said, already walking a few steps away from me.
"Are you sure you'll manage?"
"Yaa of course."
I nodded "Umm ok then. Shall I leave?"
"Yeah. Sure. See you later then." She said walking away.
I shook my head non-chalantly and grabbed her hand, spinning her around towards me. I wrapped my arms around her, holding her securely and whispered in her ears, "Done with the lies? Now how about the truth?"
And as I had expected, she melted. I could feel her stiffened body relax against mine as she let out a defeated sigh.
"You already know you can't lie to me. Why do you even try?" I asked, resting my head on hers. She didn't speak anything for some moments, just sighed more and shoved herself more towards me.
I just stood there still, holding her tight as I moved my hand through her head and shoulders to ease her out. "Relax Ishu. Its fine. I'm here with you now. Okay? Relax." I guessed that maybe she had a little arguement with Sachin. That obviously explains why he isn't here. But somewhere, I was a bit annoyed that he left her alone like this.
Just then, I felt something on my shirt. Something wet and hot. Shit! Was she crying? I moved her at shoulder length with a jerk to look at her face "Shit! Ishu? What the hell? Why are you crying?"
She started crying even more on this and leaned herself on me again. I felt my nerves starting to boil at this moment. "I thought you're just upset and down about something but this? Who? Just tell me who made you cry?"
She didn't answer.
"And where's Sachin? Wait. Did he make you cry? God tell me Ishika! This is boiling me."
