Up All Night (Sidney + Harry)

This is on the US tour, and let's just say they stopped in Santa Barbara. ;)

"BEACH DAY!" My best friend Ashlie yelled, running through the door. She had a beach bag draped over her shoulder, filled with flip flops and magazines. 

I laughed, "Just give me a sec to grab my bag." I ran around my small apartment, filling the large beach bag with books, magazines, sun tan lotion, and a couple of snacks for later. 

"Alright! I'm ready!" I exclaimed, running back to Ashlie. "Let's do this, Sidney!" She yelled, pushing open the door. 

This was exactly what I needed. After all, who doesn't love a beach day?

Harry's POV

"Feel like the beach today?" Liam asked. "Of course!" Lou yelled, and I nodded in agreement. "Beach it is then!" Zayn yelled, running off to get ready. 

Who can resist a day at the beach?

The beach was full of people, milling around, tanning or splashing in the water.  Louis took off running, slamming straight into the crystal blue waves. As soon as he got in though, he ran back out, yelling, "Where are we Antarctica? It's freezing!"

I laughed, dropping my stuff on the sand. Liam brought out some beach chairs and I grabbed one happily. 

I set everything up, grabbing my sunglasses. Zayn set up next to me, leaning back in his chair. 

The sounds of the beach filled my ears. People laughing, the waves hitting the shore, the occasional hum of a boat passing by. The smell of salt water and sun tan lotion filled the air. 

I was broken out of my peace too soon, "Oh my god! Niall?" I prepared myself for the onslaught of fans, but nothing came. "Ashlie?" Niall asked, jumping up from his position in the sand. 

I looked over at the two weirdly as they hugged. "Why are you here?" they both asked each other, at the same time. "After you left for London, I moved here, to Santa Barbara." This girl, Ashlie, explained. "You'll never believe my story!" Niall replied.

"Oh by the way, this is Sidney." Ashlie pointed out the girl standing next to her. I looked at her, and had to do a double take. 

She was beautiful. Average height, maybe five-foot-seven, brown eyes, long brown hair, the ends lighter. She had a medium tan, implying she spent plenty of time outside. 

"Oh yeah, this is Harry, Zayn, Liam, and Louis. Guys, this is Ashlie, we went to high school together." Niall introduced us. I nodded, my eyes wandering back to Sidney.

"Ash, how about we go for a walk and I'll tell you what I've been up to." Niall suggested. They walked off, leaving Sidney to stand there, holding her hands up in question. 

"Wait what?" she asked, looking back at me and the boys. It was awkward for a second until I spoke up, "Feel like swimming?" "Sure." she answered, smiling. "I wouldn't do that if I were you! The water's freezing." Louis spoke, not even looking up from his magazine. 

Sidney laughed a little, but she wasn't shaken. As we headed towards the water, I could see Liam smirking a bit. What's up with him?

The fire crackled, little pops of red and orange flying off every now and then. 

Ashlie and Sidney had invited us to a huge bonfire that was being thrown, and here I was, in front of what must have been the biggest fire I'd ever seen. 

Sidney was sitting next to me, laughing at something Liam said. 

We had spent a lot of the day in the water, talking about random things, like favorite bands. I explained the whole One Direction situation to her, since she had never heard of us. "I knew you looked familiar, I've seen you on the news." she chattered happily when I told her. 

The rest of the day was spent people-watching on the beach. 

I looked over at Niall, to find him and Ashlie all cuddled up. I knew there was something there.

The sun was starting to slip out of the sky, slowly falling below the horizon. Sidney must have noticed me watching it, "Sunsets are gorgeous, aren't they?" I nodded, watching the sun set a shadow on the glimmering water. 

Sidney leaned against my shoulder, resting on it. "They really are."
