"Jennifer, you and Gary come in from outside, we have some family friends over." My mom yelled. I looked over at my current boyfriend, kissing him as we headed in.

We found everybody in the kitchen, including our visitor, one of whom I recognized well, "Zayn…" I trailed off, looking at the half-Pakistani half-British boy. I hadn't seen him in years. "Hey Jennifer." He spoke, and we quickly hugged. Then I stepped back and introduced my boyfriend, "Zayn, this is Gary, my boyfriend. Gary, this is Zayn, he's a childhood friend." They shook hands and I stood there awkwardly.

"Okay then… how about we head back outside again Gary?" I asked. He nodded and we headed off towards the back door, but before we could escape, my mom called out, "Jennifer, take Zayn with you. Keep him entertained." I suppressed a sigh and walked out the door.

"I'm sorry babe, it's the boys from the soccer team. I really should go practice with them. I'll see you tomorrow, J-bear." With that, Gary kissed me on the cheek and left.

I looked over at Zayn, "I'm sorry, gosh. Bad timing and all. That was really awkward." He laughed, "Yeah, it was. At least now I have you all to myself. We used to have such a good time together." "Yeah…" I said, reminiscing.

"I can't believe he left like that." I said, my heart sinking. "I'm sorry," Zayn started. "You shouldn't be treated like that, even for a soccer team."

My heart warmed up as I looked into his brown eyes. "Thanks Zayny-boy." I said, and he leaned in for a hug. I laughed and returned the favor, smiling inside and out.

Zayn's POV

I woke up the next morning, confused. I didn't recognize my surroundings at first, but then remembered I was in a guest room at Jennifer's house. The clock read 8:15 AM. I so badly wanted to go back to sleep, especially since Jennifer and I had stayed up until one last night talking and joking around, but I stood up and got dressed anyway.

Once I looked reasonable, I made my way downstairs, but was stopped. I could hear faint crying. I traced the sound and found it to be coming from Jennifer's room. I knocked on the door, and when I got no reply, I opened it.

Jennifer was sitting on her bed, her light brown hair matted around her face. I hurried over, making my presence known, "Hey, hey. What's wrong?" She looked up at me with her big brown eyes and I subconsciously reached out to hold her. She welcomed the hug, burying her head into my shoulder. "Jennifer," I started. "What happened?"

She held out her phone. On it was a picture of her boyfriend, Gary was his name, all up on this other girl. Before I could say something like "you don't know this is recent" she showed me the conversation she had had with Gary about 15 minutes ago.

So it was true.

"He didn't go to soccer practice, he was cheating on me." she spoke, choking on sobs. I pulled her into a hug again, "You know he doesn't deserve you, and you shouldn't be with scum like him anyways." I was quickly getting angry. "You are beautiful, funny, sweet, amazing, and perfect. You deserve better than him. You deserve someone who will take care of you."

Jennifer pulled away from the hug, looking into my eyes. "Someone like you?" she asked quietly.

I didn't have any words to say, so I did something I had wanted to do for a while… I leaned in and kissed her passionately. Our lips moved perfectly in sync and everything had become clear. All of my feelings for Jennifer over the years were put into this kiss.

And it was the most amazing thing I've ever done.
