Okay so I was able to write a bit on my vacation. :) Enjoy.

Niall's POV
I watched as Jemma packed her belongings, her brown hair falling out of the messy bun. Blue-green eyes stained with tears, she turned towards me. The smile that she seemed to always be wearing had now vanished.
The room was silent, neither of us knowing what to say. Jemma opened her mouth to speak but ended up breaking down in tears. I held her close. "Shhh," I cooed. "It'll be okay."
We sat there for what felt like an eternity, cherishing our last seconds together before Jemma left for the States. "I'm sorry Niall, I'm sorry I have to leave," Jemma started, gathering her thoughts again. "I have to do this though…" she trailed off. I nodded in understanding, "I know, it's not your fault. Question is, will you be able to survive without your awesome best friend?" I asked.
Jemma smiled, "More like will you be able to cope without me!"
*** About a year later
I opened the small, turquoise envelope, subconsciously knowing what I was getting into.
I read the letter out loud, "We regret to inform you that Stanley Howard has passed away. A funeral service will be held October 3rd at St. Helena's Church in Beaufort, SC. Please RSVP by September 30th."
Under the text was one word, written in shaky handwriting, "Please."
I turned the card over to find a whole paragraph written. The paper looked tear-stained and read,
"Niall,
I couldn't imagine you not being here, and I know it's a long way from Mullingar to South Carolina, but I need you. I feel so alone here and I don't think I can take it. Please, Nialler, I really need you now.
-Jemma"

Jemma's POV
The reception was just now starting, small plates of finger foods being placed on white tables. I watched as my father's friends mingled, a tear seemed to be in everybody's eye. I can't believe this, my father dying at such a young age.
Another mourner came up to me, offering her condolences. I nodded and gave the largest smile I could, which wasn't very convincing.
The warm South Carolinan weather was streaming through the windows and the black dress I was wearing wasn't making it any better. My long eyelashes brushed the lenses of my glasses.
I watched the door and waited, hoping my best friend would magically burst through the door. 'What am I kidding, he's probably forgotten all about me.' I bit back tears, directing my attention over to one of the church windows. It held a beautiful stained-glass painting depicting a rose laying in the crease of a book.
I looked back towards the doors, expecting the cliche ending of "Oh he's here! I knew he would come!"
Still nothing.
I had no prince charming coming to save me.
As soon as I was ready to abandon the party of people, a strong pair of arms wrapped around me from behind. I flipped around as quickly as possible, looking into familiar blue eyes. I stood in shock, feeling stupid, but it was all I could do.
"N-Nialler…" I stuttered. He grabbed me into a hug, "Jem, Jem, I'm here. I promise it'll be okay."
***
I was wrong, about the ending not being cliche. This was almost as cliche as I could stand, but for the first time I had a prince to save me.
