Majority of the time I spend my money on books and food. Which really isn't bad, I mean literature and food is good for the soul and stomach. But books are some other level for me, it's literally an escape. I read a book and everything else just doesn't matter, my mind is literally in the book. They aren't kidding when they say reading is good for the soul.
Barnes and Noble is where I mainly go to buy books, and I'll go to a few other bookstores but B&N has my heart. I know the store like the back of my hand. Maybe even better. (I found a little mole on the back of my hand that I had no idea was there.) I enter the store and go straight to the romance section and yes I know couldn't get any more cliche. But I love romantic books, they make up majority of my books at home except for some of my teen fiction or teen romance. I have lists and lists of books to recommend anyone in those certain genres.
I look over all the books and decide on two books that caught my attention the last time I came to B&N, which was last week.
Then I make a quick stop in the teen fiction section to see if they got in one of the books I've been waiting for. Sadly, nothing. So I walk over to the registers but quickly go over to the coloring book section to see what's new. Coloring is also one of my passions. Finally I get in line after 20 minutes in the coloring book section and then pay for my books.
Walking out of the store I take out my receipt and look at the recommendations that comes with the receipt. I love that they give recommendations based on the books you buy but sometimes I like already have the books. I order another uber and I go wait outside of the Starbucks but then I went in to get a coffee real quick since there was no line (surprisingly). Looking around I see more college kids, this shopping center is basically college kid central.
And then I see him.
My father.
With a woman, no girl. She looks like she could be in college and I quickly turn around hoping they won't come inside Starbucks.
"Allura!"
Thank heaven. I grab my drink and get a text.
Unknown Number: hi it's your uber driver. I'm parked outside where the drop off zone is at.
I look and see an uber, the only one, and quickly run to it. I yank the door open and jump inside and closed the door. Goodness, I hope my dad didn't see me. I don't know how I would react but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be nice. My uber driver drives off and I thank him, and I look up to see a familiar face.
"Hey Dylan! I didn't know you were with uber." He laughs and turns down the music, "Well I have to pay for my classes somehow. When I got the request I didn't even think it was you."
Dylan is in my English class and so happens we also went to elementary together but then he went to a different school for middle/high school. But senior year he went back to my school and then we ended up going to the same college.
"That's funny. So how's it been, busy?"
"I guess you could say that. I'm making a few extra bucks before my party tonight. I still have some stuff to get."
Dylan didn't look like the partying type but looks can be deceiving. High school parties I rarely went to so I actually don't know if he went to any senior year.
"That's cool! Are you celebrating something or is it just to have a party?"
"No no I'm just having it to have it. My parents are at some wedding this weekend in Palm Springs. You should come and invite your friends!"
