Protector

Protector Part 1

Virgil stared at his reflection for awhile trying to see if anything had changed but he still looked relatively normal. He still had his dark brown bangs that covered the whole left side of his face and he still had deep bags under his eyes that made him look like the undead.

He let out a sigh of relief and began to apply eyeshadow when loud banging caused him to jump and slam his back into the counter.

"Hey you might want to hurry up don't want to be late to school and Happy Birthday! See you later Virgil." Virgil's dad yelled.

Virgil let out a shaky breath there was another reason he hoped he would be normal but when he took a glance in the mirror his eyes had changed from dark brown to iridescent purple reptilian eyes. Well Shit....

Virgil blinked a couple of times and his eyes were back to normal once again.

"Note to self panicking is note a good idea"

He was about to leave when he smelled something and that's when he noticed the smoke.

Virgil quickly made his way to the kitchen to find that their table had randomly combusted into bright red flames and with that grabbed the fire extinguisher.

He sadly wasn't able to to save the table but that's why they had spares just in case but his main concern was finding his little brother. He turned and found Thomas eating a cookie and watching cartoons.

"Thomas, You know you need to stop that this is the twelfth table this week." He groaned

"I didn't start the fire and besides you were trying to sneak out before mom got up but she probably fully awake now and should be down here any second." Thomas smirked evilly from where he sat.

That sneaky little shit!

Virgil tried to make a run but was quickly stopped by a bone crushing hug.

"Oh Honey, Happy Birthday! Today is when you learn how to protect both mythical creatures and humans."

"Why do I have to do it why can't Thomas be the one he is already a powerful fire dragon..... I just want to be normal...ish,"

"Now Virgil you know why and besides just because your element is not yet known doesn't mean anything yo will make a wonderful dragon protector and besides you're not alone you will have help so.... Don't fret and besides you panicking will only cause little mishaps ok? And don't worry you're normal. So go have fun at school and after your mentor will send someone to pick up."

Virgil sighed once again he was going to try and have one last normal day before fairytales ruin is life. He put on his headphones and turned up the volume to max and began to rollerblade to school.

Who knew this day was going to be far far from normal.
