Virgil was suddenly pushed to the ground by an unseen force. He turned to give whoever it was a piece of his mind but all of his anger left him in that moment when he looked down. It was Roman the most outgoing confident kid was now on the floor looking dejectedly at Virgil.
He let out a breath that he hadn't realized he was holding.
"Roman what happened?"
Virgil didn't expect an answer considering how distraught Roman looked but he really wasn't sure to do in this situation. He suddenly felt warmth and a pair of arms around him and saw that Roman was now sobbing into his shoulder. He stiffened at first but relaxed and began to rub small circles on his back.
They stayed like that for a while and after a few minutes Roman sobs turned into hiccups and sniffling. Virgil knew that Roman had calmed down but continued to let Roman lean on him.
The rain after a while had stopped.
Virgil knew he was taking a huge risk but it was already late and sitting on a sidewalk near and alley seem to provide some outcomes that weren't exactly good.
"Roman I don't really want to bombard you with questions considering..... Your um emotional state but I can't help notice you have a giant backpack with you may I ask what for?"
Virgil gulped when Roman tensed up but quickly heard Roman let out a sigh.
"I guess I do owe you an explanation... Compadre, the blunt honest truth I've been kicked out of my house temporary and when I left it wasn't on good terms." Roman muttered.
"Does this happen often? Wait uh forget what I said....."
"Yes this does normally happen and when it does I stay in a nearby park but its not that bad.... I'm fine with it, just over dramatic. Roman flashed his normally over bright smile but it didn't reach his eyes.
Virgil felt his heart break a little and the next thing he knew he gave Roman his jacket and firmly took him by the hand and began to drag him in the direction of his house.

Roman felt his heart stop when he realized who was staring back at him. He didn't know what he should do. It was embarrassing to Roman that he had been caught crying and he was sure that Virgil was going to start making fun of him but to his shock Virgil sat next to him and in the calmest voice asked him a question.
Roman didn't know why it made him cry even harder but it caused him to hug him. For a moment Roman thought he had overstepped his boundaries but soon felt Virgil relax and soothe him.
Roman answered Virgil's questions with the truth but not in full detail and expected that Virgil would leave him alone but was once again shocked. He was drenched and when the cool night air blew past them he shivered and was shocked to feel a sudden warmth around him. Roman had found that Virgil gave him his hoodie and was now pulling him up and since Virgil had a firm grip he had no choice but to follow. Roman tighten the hoodie around him but noticed that it was extremely warm almost like it had its own personal heater.
Weird...

Virgil marched into his house pulling Roman along and was about tell his mom they had guest but was quickly stopped when he spotted a small fire in the middle of the living room.
"Um Not to alarm you Virgil but there your couch is on fire." Roman whispered yelled.
"Don't worry it's a common thing around here." Virgil said nonchalantly.
Virgil looked over to find that Roman gave him a confused look. He was going to say something when a concerned voice called his name.
"Where have you been you know how worried I was and when I talked to your dra- Um uh who's this Virgil?"
Virgil quickly breathed a sigh of relief when his mother stopped before uttering those words.
"This is Roman and he's kind of been kicked out of his house and I was wondering if he could stay here......" Virgil saw his mother's expression soften at his explanation.
"Of course I would have liked to be more prepared but its fine...."
"Is anyone concerned about the fact that the couch is on fire and growing?!" Roman shouted.
"Oops thank you for the reminder and Virgil please tell your brother to stop setting things on fire especially now that we have a guest." His mother quickly grabbed a fire extinguisher and put it out and headed back upstairs.
Virgil led Roman to a spare bedroom and made sure he knew where everything was at. Before he could leave Roman stopped him.
"Thank you and um I'm not going to judge but your brother seems to have slight issues.
"You have no idea and your welcome but I expect my hoodie to be given back to me in the morning."
He laughed and walked out leaving Roman.
