"Is Chara going to be okay?" Espeon faced Asgore, he had hope in his eyes for the ill child.

A few days ago, Chara fell ill. Espeon still came to visit Asriel, but he wasn't in the mood to play seeing his best friend lying in his bed, unresponsive.

"Asgore dear, how about some more tea?" Toriel suggested as she looked over to her husband, he immediately nodded in response and he left the room, Toriel soon followed him.

Espeon and Asriel sat there in silence for what seemed like an eternity and a half, before a few small hicks were heard from the goat boy, making Espeon turn to look at him.

"I-I... I don't like this plan anymore..." Asriel sobbed quietly as he rested his head on Chara's bedside.

"Plan? You mean Chara...?" Espeon asked quietly as Asriel quickly covered her mouth from saying anymore.

"Yes... Chara poisoned himself on purpose, for our plan to free monsters..." He told the lavender haired girl as he took his hand away from her mouth, allowing her to speak again.

"I know in the end it'll be worth it, but it's still painful to just sit here and see him so sick..." Asriel said barely above a whisper, but the lavender haired girl heard all of it.

"But how are you certain this will work? How do you know this isn't all for nothing?!" Espeon was beginning to feel angry now, because of the two brother's recklessness and being naive. But most of all.

She was angry, because she was scared for them...

"I-it will work, you j-just have to wait and see!" Asriel stuttered quietly, so his parents would not hear this commotion.

"Even if it did work, Chara will be gone, nothing but a soul you absorbed! Is this all really worth it? The underground isn't that bad of a place!" Espeon shot back, her blood boiling over the edge now. So was Asriel's

"You wouldn't understand! You can't even recall what happened when we found you a month ago, you wouldn't know what it's like living down here! Would you Espeon?!" He cried, tears streaming down his face.

Espeon felt a pang of guilt hit her when the tears began to flow from his emerald green eyes, she wanted nothing more than to hold him, to comfort him and tell him it was all right. She shuffled towards him slightly, but before she could utter an apology, Asriel spoke "Just leave us alone!"

Espeon was hurt by his words, but she understood that he needed his space, so she nodded, wished Chara well, and left, Toriel offered her some tea but politely declined before exiting the ruins.

I shouldn't have been so hard on him... Asriel's just as hurt by seeing Chara like that too...

Me and my big mouth... I'm such an idiot...

But before Espeon could take another step anyway from the ruins, she could help but turn back to look at the large door, a bad feeling crawled up her back.

But she shook her head and continued toward, the only sound that could be heard was the crunching of snow under her shoes, and the wind blowing softly against the late trees surrounding her. But other than that, it was deathly quiet.

Azzie needs his space... I'll leave him alone for a few days...

And with that, Espeon continued walking her way back to Hotland.
