Ruby's POV
I had to visit my Granny today, soon. I had two hours to burn so I decided to play guitar and well, sing.
" What are we fighting for? Love is turning into war, " I sang. There was a tiny knock at the front door.
" What?! " I shouted in the person's face.
" Jeez, it's just me, Ruby, " Nina, - my best friend - smirked at me.
" Is Damon here? " she looked past my head.
" Nope, he's with his GF at the Pearl Cup, " I answered.
" Kay, thanks Baxter number two, " she patted me on the head and ran off. I closed the door and walked back to my room, singing again.
" This uprising battle, I'm always gonna lose. There ain't no point in trying to figure it out. Every single scar I've earned, from helping you escape from my own team. Is carved into my heart, " I repeated until there was a bang at the front door, interrupting my song.
I opened it, " I swear to god, if it's you Nina I will- " I was cut off by the sight of a beaten up Nina. She was crying.
" Nina, what happened? " I pulled her inside the cottage-styled house. She shook her head and continued to cry while I mended her wounds.
" Nina, tell me and I can help you, " I stroked her black hair.
" Damon hit me. "
" Damon, my brother? " he would never do that. She nodded, I tensed up. I'm gonna kill that bastard.
" He didn't look like himself. He had y-yellow eyes, " she shook from the sobs taking over her body. Yellow eyes?
VOOP VOOP! My phone vibrated, reminding me to go to Granny's apartment.
" Nina, I am so sorry but I have to go. Feel free to stay here until I get back, " I grabbed a backpack full of treats and left the house on my bike.
