Lina's POV

I walked home, soaking wet from the rain. There it was, a note. I knew a note was a bad sign, mom never leaves notes. Never.

Dear Lina,

I am sorry Lina. Keith and I are pregnant with a child of our own. Though we love you very much, we feel as if we don't need you anymore. Lina, the orphanage will be taking you back. Be packed by six o'clock.

~ Tamara

I ripped my hair out of the bun, letting the seven foot blond avalanche of hair flow. Tears burst out of my eyes and I sat and cried for an hour. I called my best friend Kevin, for advice.

" Hello, Mr. Hunts speaking. "

" Kevin, it's me L-Lina, " I stuttered, so glad to hear his voice again.

" Lina, have you been crying? " he asked. I nodded silently, even though he couldn't see that he knew me very well.

" Why? "

" My mom is giving me back. "

" Back? No. No, she wouldn't! " he screamed into his cellphone.

" Well, she did. I'm moving back to London. I'm really gonna miss you, " I started crying all over again.

" I'm coming to pick you up in ten minutes. Pack all of your necessities, " he ordered and hung up. Looks like I'm living with my best friend. He was the only one who knew about this damn hair problem. Someday I want to cut off my hair, dye it brown and keep it that way. But I can never do it.

I ran upstairs dragging my heavy long hair with me. I grabbed all of my hair supplies, my cellphone, a bunch of clothes and a picture of my Tamara and Keith, my parents.

" I can't do this anymore! " I cried, letting even more sadness that was buried deep inside.  Kevin walked in, he owned a house key.

" Lina! " he ran to my side and comforted me, " Shh. Let it all out. "

I wiped my eyes, " It's almost six. Let's go. "  I grabbed my tangle of blondeness and rushed out the apartment where my mom home schooled my until I was 16, how old I am now.

" OK, to the apartment! "

" Tada! " Kevin opened the door of his messy college apartment.

" Oh Kevin! It's wonderful! " I pulled him into a hug, " Thank you. "

" No problem, Braids! " he used my nickname.

" I am so gonna get you for that one! " I chased him around the apartment, my hair slowing me down.

" Too slow! " he shouted.

" Well that's no fair, I have like 6 pounds of hair! " I screamed back to him while I untangled my hair from a laundry bin.

" Oh, Lina, " he sighed and walked over with scissors.

" No! " I shrieked, pushing the scissors away, " Kevin, my body won't let me cut my hair! "

" What do you mean? "

" In my mind I want it short, but I won't let myself cut it off, " I touched my 7 foot blond hair.

" It's the magic, isn't it? " he asked. I nodded.

" Do the magic, do the magic! " he screeched like Anna from Frozen.

" Really? " he nodded.

" Please! "

" Ok. Flower gleam and glow. Let your power shine. Make the clock reverse, bring back what once was mine. Heal what has been hurt. Change fate's design, save what has been lost. Bring back what once was mine, " my golden hair was glowing, lighting up the apartment more.
