3. Spider Attack

Melda froze completely at the sight of the horrendous creature. Her mind raced with thoughts of her next move but nothing came to mind. She was clouded in shock and fear, fogging her inner elvish instincts. The spider launched it's body towards the two. But Melda managed to jump to the side. She landed hard on the ground with a thump as the spider prepared itself for another attack. The young girl, still tangled in the webs, kept on struggling, her cries loudly audible.

For a while, Melda struggled fighting off the spider. She kicked and punched using all her power to defeat it. When it brought her to the ground, she remembered the dagger concealed in her cloak.

Almost immediately, she took it out as the spider raced towards her. But before it made it to injure her any more, she sunk the blade into the creatures head. Soon, it's body dropped to the ground. She retrieved the dagger from its body, and it dripped with goo.

Melda felt relieved. She hurried to the girl who could barely control her sobs from fear. She took the blade and sliced the webs that restricted the girl, carrying her down afterwards. The girl was small and slim, a detailed dirty dress covering her petite body. Her hair was tied up, it's golden locks framing her round stained face.

"Thank you," she said, catching her breath between sobs, "thank you so very much."

Melda slightly nodded, her heart beat quickening, "Where did you come from? You're of the race of man." She had never seen a different race in all her years.

"I've come from Rohan with my family," the girl said quietly, "I got lost and I can't find them." Tears rolled down her cheeks though no sobs escaped her mouth, "We were ambushed by orcs a few hours ago and I wandered into this forest." She dropped to the ground, clutching her leg.

Shocked, Melda knelt down, seeing a large gash on the girl's leg. Her dress was torn and the blood was seeping through. Immediately, Melda carried the girl with all her strength.

Then, she began to run.
