Silence. It was such an unexpected answer.
"What?" Junhoe asked.
"Something's happened. Her body is getting better. The flower is withering. It's dying." The doctor explained.
"D-Did that mean she lost her feelings for me?" Junhoe asked, just a little sad.
"No.....no, it's the entire opposite." Donghyuk said before shooting a look that startled Junhoe. He grabbed his arms.
"Junhoe......did you grow feelings for her??" He asked. Junhoe gulped.
"I-I don't know." He said. Donghyuk stared at him.
"Did you?" he asked again. Junhoe thought for a moment. What if you died? What if you would no longer be by his side? What if the surgery didn't work? It brought tears to his eyes.
"Junhoe?" Donghyuk said when he saw his eyes growing damp.
"....I think so." Junhoe finally said.
"Then she won't have to take the surgery. There is no need. She is getting better with your help." The doctor said. Donghyuk, for the first time in a while, smiled. He laughed and cried. He hugged Junhoe suddenly. It made the situation awkward, well for Junhoe, it was.
"She's not going to die, Junhoe. She'll be happy." Donghyuk cried. The doctor smiled and walked out.
"She would still live if she got the surgery..." Junhoe said.
"Junhoe, she didn't want to take the surgery." Donghyuk said.
"What? Why not?" Junhoe asked. Donghyuk gestured him to sit down.
"You see, if you take the surgery, you'll lose your feelings for whoever you used to love. She told me a long time ago that she didn't want to take it because she didn't want to forget how it felt to love you. At first, I thought she was being irrational and stupid, but I realised how it felt. She loved you a lot, in fact. When I went to her house to keep her company, she would always talk about you first. Well, until she'd start coughing out a bunch of petals. Then I had to change the subject." Donghyuk said. Junhoe's heart raced. He couldn't help but feel happy that you loved him this much. He thought you were cute.
"Did she really?" Junhoe asked. Donghyuk nodded and smiled.
"It was super annoying."
"Aish." Junhoe said, playfully slapping him.
"Seriously, though. I bet you when she wakes up, she's gonna ask where you are first." Donghyuk said.
"Psh! No way......." Junhoe said. Donghyuk shook his head and sighed.
"It's getting late, Junhoe, we need to go." Donghyuk said.
"I'll stay here. I want to stay with her. You go ahead with the others." Junhoe said. Donghyuk patted his shoulder and left.
