Grayson wakes up early in the morning to his alarm ringing. He groans and smacks it off as he remembers the bothersome routine he must continue. He got used to waking up at whatever time, and seeing Ethan lying next to him sleeping peacefully.
Unfortunately It's the start of a brand new week and he promised his mom he'd go back to school. He's been gone for weeks, if he misses any more days he'll be declared truant and expelled at once.
He stands up and yawns thinking of the crazy dream he had the night before. He thought his whole world came to a screeching halt but as he looks out the window at the gleaming California sun rising he smiles. He thought he left to New Jersey but here he is, with Ethan in the sunshine state.
He goes to the bathroom and showers as he usually would, making sure to not take too long. He walks back to his room with a towel wrapped around his waist and his hair dripping wet. He goes through his drawers picking out an outfit while Ethan snores quietly.
He stares into the mirror in his room feeling increasingly unsure about his outfit. It feels like the first day of school all over again. He feels anxious and nervous. He contemplates blowing it off when he hears Ethan mumble his name in his sleep and clutch his arms around the spot where he once was, but he has to go. He sighs before walking out of his room.
Ethan hears the door shut followed by quiet footsteps going down the stairs. He isn't sure why Grayson is up this early or why his backpack is on the bed. He furrows his brows before an idea pops through his head.
Breakfast awaits Grayson downstairs, even though he isn't hungry he forces himself to eat something, if he's hungry at school it'll only make him more grumpy. He grabs a banana and smoothie scarfing them down quickly before heading back to his room to grab his backpack.
He walks back upstairs and opens his door. Ethan lays across his bed with his head proped up on his palm as he stares at him intently.
Grayson's breath hitches as he steps in. He hasn't told Ethan anything, he knows nothing of him having to go back to school or even having to move back to his hometown.
"Going somewhere?" Ethan asks as Grayson walks towards his bed looking for his bag that he placed on it.
"Yeah... School. Where's my bag?" Grayson questions looking around the room for it. Ethan walks over to him as he looks behind some stuff on his drawer.
"Hey." He whispers rubbing his shoulders, Grayson calms instantly at his touch and takes a deep breath.
"Your stressing. Why don't you just stay here with me?" Ethan suggests planting soft kisses on his cheek.
"Because Ethan, I've missed weeks. I'll be kicked out if I don't show up today." Grayson explains sadly turning to face him.
"Just stay one more day babe, for me please." Ethan begs hugging him tight.
"We can play board games, and chess. I'll even let you win!" He assures trying his best to convince him.
"As fun as that sounds... I can't." Grayson sighs.
"C'mon sure you can. We can watch TV, and cuddle all day, you won't have to deal with those assholes at school." Ethan further explains cornering him into the nearest wall and pressing kisses onto his neck hoping to tempt him somehow.
