-
I have nothing left to say.
My songs have all been sung.
The words I wrote have all been read.
You've heard all the words I've said.
So this is the end.
This is where the curtain closes on our phenomenal story.
And as that curtain closes on,
What was once,
A beautiful production,
Marking the end of an era,
It also marks the end of what we were.
Whatever that may've been.
So this is the end.
I found a way to let go.
But I haven't found a way to say goodbye.
I was never one for goodbyes.
You know that.
I haven't found a way to look at you
And say those two syllables
That would forever end things,
Even though I longed to do so.
I was ready.
I was just as okay with never seeing you again
As you were with never seeing me again.
But I still couldn't say goodbye.
I couldn't look into your deep,
Intricate,
Ultraviolent orbs,
That anyone else would call eyes,
And say that word.
That sick,
Heavy,
Awful word.
How can one word hold so much?
When you say goodbye,
It comes out as heavy as the word itself.
When you say goodbye,
It's different from other salutations.
For example,
When you say,
See you later,
It means exactly that.
But when you say goodbye,
It means you know,
Deep down,
You'll never see them again.
But I thought I was okay with that.
With our goodbye.
This is the end.
This is goodbye.
So why can't I look at you
And tell you goodbye
Without my heart feeling
As if there's a sword through it?
