KATE'S POV
"Mr and Mrs. Davila?" I call into the hallway. The couple had seated on the only twoseater in the office; it used to be red, but the color was stained, and the cheap leather had ripped exposing some of the filling.
Mrs. Davila turned her head first, revealing a beautiful but aged face. One of those real fur scrafs was wrapped elegantly around her fragile neck, and I silently wondered what animal needed to die to make such an ugly scarf.
Her husband was the exact opposite of her: graying hair, and wrinkles framed his face. His dark eyes were foggy from anger, but also sympathy.
"About time.." Mr Davila murmered, but I just rolled my eyes. We are at a police department and not a restaurant.
"Could you just follow me?" I ask, and accompany them into the small room only filled with a few seats, and a coffee table.
Mr and Mrs Davila glided onto the seats, but disgust was written cleary on their faces.
"As you already know, your daughter-in-law too be was found murdered and-"
"Of course we know..", Mrs Davila interupts me forcefully and glares at me for a second before continueing. "Our son tells us everything. Even that she was pregnant."
Mr Davila, who had not paid the greatest attention, suddenly grabbed his wife's thigh tightly.
"She wasn't, though. Claire had lied: that snake.." Mr Davila quickly tried to save the situation, but I knew better than to believe him.
"Aha. And why did she tell you that she was pregnant then?" Liars just annoyed me: It wasn't that I couldn't break them, but it made work even harder and more difficult.
"Eh, isn't that obvious?" Mrs Davila snapped at me, and places her manicured fingers on top of her husband's. "She was after the money."
"The money?"
"If Jandro died his brother would get his money. Unless she was pregnant, or had a child from Jandro." She continued, before she gasped again. Mr. Davila's grip had tightend around her leg, and I knew she couldn't take that back, nor rescue it with a lie.
"Aha. Thank you for everything." I excuse them politely, and walk out after them. I could hear Mr. Davila mutter angrily at his wife, and his arms grasps her wrist forcefully. Jackpot.

CASTLE'S POV
"Always such a drama queen." I hear Mother mutter before getting up, and seating herself down next to me.
"It's not that bad. Really." Her red hair was bobbing up and down as she was nodding understandingly.
"Please." I beg her to stop. It was already hard enough, without my mother acting like she understood.
"Ok, fine." And she was back to her sassy self in matter of seconds.
A sad smile finds my face as I slowly reach for my phone.
"Call her, Richard." She murmers before getting up, and strolling to the stairs.
I did, but not before starring at the phone for 5 minutes.
"Beckett." Kate snaps into the phone, and it keeps quiet between us before I let out a long pained sigh.
"Kate."
"Rick." She replies longingly.
"So you know about Claire?"
"Yes."
"And?"
"I don't know.." Kate sounded unsure, and confused. Her voice was always so confident and it was new to hear her so startled and sad.
"I'm coming. Okay?"
"I don't know. Maybe it is the best to maybe take a break. Only shortly." Kate suggest, but her voice was trembeling.
"No, please. Please. No. I'm coming. I love you, Kate." I was desperate: I couldn't loose Kate.
"I love you, too, but after what happened. What else are you keeping from me?"
"I will tell you everything, but don't let me loose you!" My body is cringing, and fear shook through me. I was already moving toward the door though, so there was still hope, right?
"Fine." She simply said, and hung up. Indeed, maybe there was hope.

KATE'S POV
The call from Castle came half-way excpect, but also half-way too late. He had hesistated to tell what was going on, and who knew what else he was hidding. Did I even want an explation?
Of course I did. Who was I trying to foul?
"Kate!" Lanie called while slowly skipping in my direction.
"Hey!" I respond, happy to see my friend.
"So I did what you asked for, and no Claire wasn't pregnant, but, and this is a big but, she had been recently. She seemed to have a miscarriage; a forced one. There were clear signs of beating to her stomach and uterus." Lanie was dead serious, and I started to ask myself what else this family was hidding.
"Thanks a lot, but did you come up here just to tell me that. You could have just called me, you know."
"Eh, yeah. I'm going out for lunch." Lanie murmered embarresingly. At the same time Espo walked into the office. Oh what a coincidence... Did they really think it still was a secret?
"Have fun." Lanie and Espo, with some distance, left together shortly afterwards, leaving me to wonder.
Just before I was about to completely drift into the land of confusion, I heard Castle's heavy footsteps behind me.
"Kate." His voice sounded strained, and it was full of fear.
"Rick." I just say, waiting for him to explain himself.
He clears his throat and tells me something that made me question the Castle I loved and knew.
A/N: Sorry for this to be short and late. I hope you liked it, though. (Maybe even vote and comment?)
