The ocean zooms below me. Waves crashing against each other. We would be landing back at the School of Elements anytime now. After the events of yesterday, the Affilatorian Circle had sent us back, saying they didn't want to risk another attack. We were all okay, the worst injuries were mine. I had broken two ribs when I had fallen from the Arche de Triumph, the only thing that had kept me alive was my cocoon of ice. Attempting to move without hurting my ribs, and fail. Though healers had healed me, my had been fixed completely, there was immense bruising around my stomach, the colour that of a rotten plum.
"Fasten your seat-belts, we are landing now." A voice says over the speaker and I do as instructed. I pop a piece of gum in my mouth as we start our descent. The sun shines red, the world glowing scarlet like the blood spilled in France and as we hit the pavement my back bumps from the seat and I grunt as another impact cause my body to ache.
We file off the plane, the salty air giving me energy. We climb onto a boat that sets off for the island. My head is heavy, my body craving sleep. I could easily sleep through tomorrow, but School started again. Struggling to keep my eyes open soon I find myself inside the school. The gate swings open and I don't take anything in except my bed once I reach it, though I don't remember climbing any stairs.
The cold water was my the only thing keeping me awake. I lower the temperature to the lowest possible setting, the freezing water barely doing its job. Soon I pull on my dark green joggers and a light gray t-shirt. The temperature was already raised to an uncomfortable level as I make my decent from the Ice washrooms. The walls of the main cavern are bright with colour, birds flying through the air, their chirps a symphony of soprano notes. Water trickles from a waterfall, going along the wall, feeding the many bright flowers around it. I take in the colours, yellow, red, green, blue, pink, and white, all blending together to make a sight of beauty. The tree in the middle looks as majestic as when I had left, its thick roots embedded in the ground.
I enter the cafeteria, the water atop the glass ceiling allowing for sunlight to wave across the room. I chug down my smoothie, hoping maybe the school had secretly put coffee in it and then eat my muffin.
By the looks of it, the others were feeling the same way as me. They all eat their food slowly, their eyelids drooping like they weighed pounds. It wasn't just the time change, it was the events. The amount of power I had used throughout the weekend was not normal, and I was drained, just the thought of drawing my powers it was a daunting task.
Soon the bell rings and I hall myself, to Elemental Control, the last class I wanted to go to at the moment. I get through the day somehow, each minute stretching into hours. But soon the last bell of the day and I was free to go to sleep.
