I finally think Leo figured out his place in the team. Maybe it was because I beet his ass weeks ago, or maybe because we had worked together briefly in the duel last Saturday, or the most likely reason, he saw how much pain I had endured keeping this team from going forward, no matter the reason when I had walked into the training area he had cast a small smile towards me."Remember, always watch your opponent before attacking, look to see whether they rely on magic or physical fighting more," I tell the groups the two groups, two members from the team sparring with each other just for practice."For example, Leo relies mostly on raw power meaning he has to be farther away to be at his best, so because of that I'm going to try to get as close as possible and engage in physical combat," I tell the group. "Remember to asses yourselves as well, I tend to prefer using Ice over my fists, but you may be different. If you feel like your strong suit is controlling magic then make sure you keep your target farther away from you. And vice versa if you prefer physical attacks."I watch as Chelsea goes to kick Cassian, the Earth boy jumping back and wrapping vines around the Norwegian girl's ankles. Chelsea tips back and uses a strong wind to keep her upright. Walking from the group I watch as Jessie and Mackenzie duel. Jessie washes water around Mackenzie's feet but quickly Mackenzie electrocutes it. Jessie jumps back as a flash hits her feet."Remember Jessie, if your facing a Lightning Elemental you can not touch the water what so ever. And Mackenzie Water Elementals will expect you to use that move, so instead switch up and send a full blast at them."Mackenzie nods twirling around and send a blast of sparkling light towards Jessie. I back away and start to duel with Leo.Ice tracing my hand's movements I go to punch Leo in the face. He dodges and twirls back, fire swarming around him. Running at him I barely have enough time to jump from the wall of fire hurling towards me. Heat scorches the area beside me, the dirt charring at my side. I send a simple blast of ice towards Leo and the fire stops. He steps back from the impact and kicks him in the side. Tripping to the ground he sends a blade of fire upwards. I fly through the air, the impact knocking my breath away from."Good job." I pant picking myself. He smirks walking over to me and helping me the rest of the way up."Thank you." He smiles and shakes my hand firmly. The six of us circle up, we had become a team, maybe not s close as the Gifted Six, but I considered them my friends. Our hour of training was up, and instead of going our separate ways we head into the village.Leaves fly through the crisp breeze dancing to the accompaniment of the swaying grass. We pass a bench. My breath catches in my throat, as phantom lips latch onto mine. I shake the feeling away from me and as we enter the cafe I try not to think of the last time I was in here.A memory blossom, Nora's ghost laughing as foam decorated my upper lip from my latte. No, I wasn't going to let the past haunt me...I grab a Cardamom Latte and take a seat at the balcony overlooking the lake. Jessie and Mackenzie sit beside me, the others still grabbing their drinks. Once everyone is sitting conversation comes as easily as if we were long term friends."Where are you from?" I ask Chelsea."Weshovia." Chelsea smiles tucking her long hair behind her ear. "Have you ever been?"I shake my head. "I probably will someday soon. What's it like there?""Well the island is mainly forest, I'd say it's three times as large as this island. The whole south side is the city, I think there are about 52,000 people living there."I nod."And there is Argentum Arche which cuts through the entire mountain. It's where the shopping district is and the mines and dormitories for Thalassius are."Thalassius Lacrimae was once a castle ruled Aqalsia, Daughter of Water and one Princess of the land. That is until a few hundred years ago they transformed the grand castle into an institute for learning magic. Only half of the large building was used for training though, the other half reserved for the Affilatorian Circles purposes.I'd most likely go there one day."Cool." I smile. "Are you on an exchange program this year?""Yeah, I go back next year, aren't you going back to Flarea Estora at the end of the year?""That's the plan as of now." I smile, I wasn't allowed to say otherwise even if it was true.I sip my coffee, not as good as the coffee at Herofas back at the Academy."I'll see you all in two days." I smile as I receive a text calling a mandatory meeting in the Gifted Six group chat.Taking my coffee to go I head into the common area. The large pond in the center of the huge cavern is filled with russet leaves, ripples ever expanding until hitting the edge of the water as rain starts to fall from the heavens like tears.Nora walks past me briskly, ignoring my existence as she had six months ago before anything had happened. I wonder if she knew how much it hurt, every glance at her a knife twisting in my heart.Brennen leads us through the large door, waves twisting across the storm coloured door, the water emblem taking center. We walk down a passage then climb a few stairs up to the water dormitory. The common room is set underground, the far wall is made of glass, an aquarium of glowing fish beyond. Glowing raindrops are suspended in the air, the navy couches and white pillows scattered around the floor. Carpets are layered over the stone floor, people mingle around the cozy room. Brennen leads us to a door and presses his hand to it, the door swinging open.Brennen's room has a view of darting eels, the dark waters revealing glowing crystals similar to the ones in my room. How was a place like this even made? We sit on the bed as Brennen opens his laptop, opening up a video-call.Oliver smiles at us cheerfully."Hello." He smiles.I smile at the friendly face."The Circle has decided that you six should be sitting into some meetings. The first one will be in ten minutes, so stay present, go get a drink of water, but be here in five."Aira quickly heads to the washroom filling up some cups for Ella and her. A few minutes later the screen flicks on.I take in different screens. Arealueas sits in a throne made of the mother of pearl, spirals and sea creatures carved into the huge piece. His tan skin still has beads of water on it. His face has metallic cyan paint on his cheeks, his crown of shining silver and pearl worth a small kingdom.Feyran of Aragon and his wife Emily sit in a joined throne of dark stone adorned with moonstone, shining faintly in the moonlight. The stone is spiked violently, two wolves making up the hand rests. Feyran's well-toned chest is revealed, intricate tattoo's stretch across his chest, his shoulder revealing a circular tattoo similar to ours with a moon on it, lines crisscrossing to make a detailed alpha symbol. The other members are sitting around the large circular table"Today we will be discussing the trading roots between certain Mirror Realms." George Mackintosh announces. "Recently certain Realms have dropped from the Agricultural Trade Agreement because of the rise of the Dark Empire. The Realm of Kietoya, based from the countryside of China has dropped out, The Realm of Okotaveah, based out of the middle of the South Island of New Zealand has dropped out. And finally a large Fruit producing realm Nueavatello has dropped the agreement and they are based from Mexico.""What do these three Realms produce?" An older lady questions."Kietoya produces rice, Okotaveah produces wheat, and Nueavatello produces fruits and vegetables." The Guardian leader replies."And does this mean that the 24 other Realms in the agreement will have to produce more food?" Asks last generations Earth member of the Gifted Six."Yes," Mackintosh replies. "We have plans to expand the farmland of Heavansheht."An adviser from the Realm nods, the only way I knew their name and occupation because of the small rectangle screen built into the table showing it."Heavansheht is known as Realm that has supported the Dark Empire before." A plump man with a strong American accent replies. "My Realm will also double production of wheat. We are set out of Kansas so we have a fairly good climate to grow grain."Mackintosh nods and the officials scribble something down quickly.I knew the game that the official from the Ohio Realm was playing... If he doubled his production of wheat so would his profit, everyone at the table was blatantly aware of that."Our biggest issue is the production of rice, we only have one other Realm set out of Cambodia that produces rice and their population isn't large enough to make up for the lack we will experience.""How much more rice could be produced with the current population?" Asks Emily of Aragon."Not much." The adviser of the Realm states."Could you not send some Earth Elementals in to help?" Emily asks."We could but most farmers are busy working in the smaller realms since that's where they make the largest profit."The meeting stretches on for another hour, the final agreement simple. Heavansheht would double their wheat production as well as Tarenmore, the Kansas based realm. The official from a smaller realm, not a part of the Trade Agreement Originally, and not part of the 16 main Realms scattered throughout the world, but still of a medium size offers to start doubling the rice production. With that, the Realm of Nyaso was added to the Agricultural Trade Agreement. As for Fruits and Vegetables Tarenmore would also be producing more fruits as well as a Constavia, a Realm-based from Turkey. It is about 11:00 pm when the meeting is finished, the six of us saying barely anything. I knew we had to watch the meetings, knew we would be sitting up there someday, but that didn't stop it from being boring. I end up sleeping on Brennen's floor, Denen also deciding to sleep over.Once Denen's snores fill the room I soon regret my choice and stare out of the glass wall where fish fly through the darkness, their bodies glowing like stars, the water the endless night.I would be alright... I had to be. But just seeing her today, thinking about the dark-haired person I had called my girlfriend for four months, it hurt. It hurt more than the blade through the shoulder. It hurt more than a broken rib. It was truly terrible, and I wanted her back. I wanted to laugh with her again, I wanted to touch her slender body, I wanted to sit on our cliff edge and watch the stars forever. But the moments were ideals, shattered by the worlds thorns like mere glass. But I had let her go so she would be safe. And now I had to live with it. I fall asleep at 1:00 am, sleep finally claiming me as I yearn for freedom of thought.

How was I so stupid? I would be facing Nora in the duel...The duel was in an hour, and it would be more challenging then ever. Obstacles would be spaced out around the area, fallen tree's and large rocks as well as a lake. Weapons would be around the arena hidden in logs and under leaves.Cassian, Chelsea, Leo, Jessie, Mackenzie, and I warm up in Training Room 1. The solidified air protecting us from falling into the pool below. The entire area jutted above the pool, vines hanging from the lip of it. Across from this training room is another where I can see Nora and her group training.Looking a way from the other group of six as I tunnel into my magic. Ice twirls around my hand as I slowly twirl ice through the air. I drop the temperature lower and lower until it's far below zero. Warming my body up more I let magic seep from my ever pore building up a storm of energy around me. A messenger comes to get us and we leave the room behind, ice still frozen on the floor. The messenger is the same man that had lead my group for the survival contest to the secondary mountain unit. He leads out down the stairs, his gruff face not revealing a single emotion as he shows us to the locker room."I'm nervous." Cassian admits. "How do you duel so many people and have real consequences?""Well usually there is no time to stop and stress out about what will happen." I reply. "A lot of the things I've done... they don't really register until afterwords." It was true, stopping and feeling guilty about what I had done would help no one and in the end put a target on my back from showing weakness.Leo, Cassian, and I head to the guys change room and put on our a black tech suits. Taking a sip of water I head towards the door as the 30 second warning is displayed."Here we go." Mackenzie says, lightning crackling along her forearms."Good luck everyone, remember our plans." I say, reminding them of the hours of work we had put into formulating group movements in any sort of situation.5 Seconds...I summon my powers, the area around me dropping below zero.3 Seconds...I step up to the door.1 Second...I smile at my friends.
