The next day at school Imani opened her locker and Jayden walked up to her and said, "Wassup?" She rolled her eyes, feeling annoyed because she couldn't stand him. He always irritated her, but she said, "Oh my god, what?" He didn't even react to that like he usually does; he just asked, "What are you doing today?" She asked, "Why?" while grabbing her books for class.

He asked, "You want to hang out?" She said, "I don't know about that." He asked, "Why not?" She said, "Because I said so. Plus you're a senior and I'm a sophomore so it would probably look weird." He continues to beg her to hang out with him until he got interrupted by one of his friends that said, "Aye Jay!? Come here, boy!"

Jayden told Imani that he would be back and he walked away. She rolled her eyes and closed her locker and walked away. Markel stood in front of her and said, "Hey. Why were you talking to Jayden?" She looked at him like he was crazy and said, "Because I can." He said, "You shouldn't be talking to him or hanging—"

She cut him off and said, "Wait! You can't tell me who to talk to or hang out with. You're not my nigga so stop tryna be because I'm not dating you again. Why can't you just understand that?" He looked upset and said, "Imani I'm in love with you and I still have feelings for you." She said, "Well I'm sorry, but I can't go back out with you. I don't have any more feelings for you. I'm sorry but I gotta go." She sighed and walked around him and went to class.

Meanwhile, Common was in the car just thinking and said to himself, "I'm going to miss my baby girl and I know she going to hate that this happened and that I've done kept this away from her, but it's for the best." He blinked his eyes and called Brandon who he supposedly owe money too and said, "I don't have your money. Well, I won't be giving you any money so you can fuck off." He put his phone down. He called Imani but she didn't answer. He left her a voicemail message and said, "Hey princess I just wanted to say that there's food at home. Umm well, I got myself into some trouble, and if I don't make it back home just know that I love you. I'm gone always love you and be proud of you. Keep your head up and high for daddy. I'm gone always be looking down on you. I'll see you soon. I love you so much."

He ended the call, and put his phone down. He saw two guys come out of nowhere and break the window and shoot him and the car up. After the guys notice Common was bleeding and his eyes were close they hurried and ran and got in there car, and drove off leaving Common to bleed out.

Meanwhile after that happen, Imani was standing outside of the school waiting for her dad to pick her up. Jayden came and stood by her and said, "You fine." He was flirting, and she said, "Yeah, I'm just waiting for my dad to come." He looked at her crazy and said, "It was a compliment." She thanked him and his phone rang.

He said, "Hold on." He answer the phone while walking away. He said, "Wassup?" Brandon was on the other line and asked, "Where you at?" He said, "I'm at school. Did he handle your business?" Brandon said, "Yep he's dead. Come home though."

Jayden said, "I'm bout to bitch." He hung up and walked back over to Imani. "Do you need a ride home?" he asked, and she looked at him and said, "No, I'm just going to walk." He said, "No come on I'm gone take you home, plus you said you were gone hang out with me anyway." She said, "Fine, let's go, but I'm gone have to use your phone."

They walked to his car and he asked, "Why you need to use my phone?" She said, "I left mines on the dresser at home." He asked, "You need to call your dad or something?" She said, "Yeah." They got in the car and he gave his phone to her. She dialed her dad's cell phone number while Jayden pulled off the school parking lot. Jayden saw Markel looking at them but Jayden didn't care.

During the car ride, she said, "He's not answering. He's probably in a meeting." She gave him, his phone back. He nodded his head and said, "I'm taking you to my house." She looked at him confusedly and asked, "Why?" He said, "Just to chill."

She said, "Uhh no. You taking me home." He sighed and asked, "Where you live?" She said, "On 21st street." Which was in the suburbs. He asked, "When you are going to let me be your boyfriend?"

She laughed and said, "You funny." But he was serious. She said, "Jay you're a senior who is about to graduate and I'm just a sophomore. Plus I don't know anything about being an adult and my dad would kill me if he finds out I'm dating a senior." He said, "But you dated a junior." She said, "Yeah I did, but he just a grade higher and you are—"

And he cut her off and said, "Two grades higher. Of course, but age doesn't mean a thing." She asked, "How old are you?" He said, "Eighteen." She said, "Well age mean a thing to me." He said, "Well I'm not giving up until you—" but he stop talking cause when he pulled up to her house it was a lot of police cars surrounding it.

He stopped the car and asked, "What they ass doing here?" She looked confused and said, "I don't know." She got out of the car and ran to the house. He drove off because he and the cops don't get alone especially since he's a drug dealer.

Imani ran towards the house and a female cop had to stop her and asked, "Are you Imani Benson?" "Yes where is my dad?" Imani asked, panicking. The cop was about to talk until Imani heard a familiar voice call her name. She was so mad cause she knew who it was and when she turned around it was her mother.

Mariah looked a mess. Her clothes were dirty, her shoes looked old, and her hair was all over the place. It seemed like she needed a good shower, but Imani didn't care that. She asked, "What did you do? Where is my dad?" Mariah told her that her father was dead and Imani's heart dropped.

"They found his body and the car itself shot up." Mariah said. Imani was so mad and said, "You lying bitch!" She tried to attack her, but the cop held her back and told her to calm down. Tears started to fall down Imani's cheeks while she asked, "Ma'am where is my dad?" The officer said, "Your mother is right. He past away."

Imani didn't want to hear any more. She ran into the house because her heart was beating too fast. When she got into the house she ran into her dad's room and saw a lot of detectives searching his room. She sleds against the wall and broke down crying while shaking her head.
