Chapter 15

A few months later, Imani lost her mind the day Michael and her mother died. She started drinking, but Jayden helped her and put her in therapy. So she's doing better and her mind is getting back on track. Of course, Jayden is keeping an eye on her, even when she's not around him.

That night Imani was on the phone and said, "Okay Jayden I hear you." She unlocked the front door to the house and walked in. "Alright. I love you and see you when you get home. Bye." She hung up the phone. Someone knocked on the door and Imani sat her phone down to open the door.

She gasps and started to walk backward slowly. "What are you doing? What do you want? Who are you?" she asked, panicking. The person shot her in her chest and took it's ski mask off. The man said, "I'm the one who raped you not Michael. I wanted you and you just had to be with that bitch ass nigga." The person was walking up to her while she was holding her wound.

The back door open and closed. The person said, "Shit! I have to go!" The person ran out of the front door. The other person came around the corner and ran over to Imani. The person said, "Oh my God! Imani, please stay woke! Oh my god!"

The man put pressure on her wound and said, "It's okay I got you." He called the cops, and Imani mumbled something and slowly closed her eyes.

A few minutes later, at the hospital, Jayden ran up to the counter and yelled at the desk lady. He asked, "Where the fuck is my girl at?!" The desk lady told him to calm down, and Jayden was about to snap, until Markel pulled him back and yelled, "Calm down Jayden!" Brandon ran into the hospital and asked what happen. Markel said, "I came through the back way to check up on Imani and when I got in the house she was on the floor breathing hard, because someone shot her. Your front door was open and everything."

Jayden got angry and yelled, "Every fucking time I go somewhere she always being a damn target!" Brandon said, "Jayden calm down she's going to be okay." Before Jayden said something Imani doctor stepped in the room and asked, "Family of Ms.Benson?" Jayden walked over to him and asked, "Is she okay?" The doctor said, "Oh yes! She lost a lot of blood though, but she slipped into a small coma."

Jayden stutter and said, "Uh-uh coma?" The doctor said, "Yeah it seems like she under a lot of stress. She needs to calm down." Jayden asked if they could see her and the doctor said, "Yes follow me." Jayden followed the doctor.

Imani was in a coma sleeping peacefully. She was having a dream about her father. Her father said, "Princess." Imani turned around and said, "Daddy?!" She smiled and hugged him tightly.

Common hugged her back and she said, "You don't know how much I missed you. Daddy why you leave me?" She pulled away and looked at him. He said, "Babygirl I knew I was going to leave. That's why I left you that voicemail." Imani had water in her eyes and said, "I know you're upset." He said, "About?"

She said, "My behavior lately." "Oh believe me I am. You're dating a senior, a drug dealer, and living with him, and just doing everything else in the world," he said, and she said, "Daddy I'm sorry." She was feeling embarrassed."But I'm happy though. He's keeping you in school, watching you, and protecting you. I'm so happy, because my baby girl is growing up," he said, with a small smile.

She said, "I know, but I killed Michael." He said, "I know. You have been scared, lonely, lost, and heartbroken. My death took half of you." She said, "I just wish you were here with me. I mean mom wasn't good, but she did believe in me at least." He said, "You know I always believed in you." She looked down and said, "But no one is going to be at my graduation. I don't have anyone anymore."

He lifted her head and said, "I'm going to be there. I'm going to always be there with you no matter what. You going to see me soon just not right now. I'm going to be okay and so are you. I love you." She said, "I love you too." He told her that he had to go, but she begged him to stay. He said, "I need you to wake up." She shook her head no and hugged him. She begged him to not leave, but Common faded away. She started crying.

Jayden was sitting in the chair looking at Imani. He said, "I can't believe this happen to you." Imani's eyes were still closed. Brandon looked at Imani and said, "Me too." Jayden said, "This her second time getting hurt."

Brandon said, "I know Jay. She is going to forgive you." He said, "That's not the point. Every time I'm not with her she ends up as a target. I'm so glad she didn't die cause I would have lost my mind." Brandon looked at him and said, "You must love her." Jayden grabbed Imani's hand and said, "Yes I do. I love her crazy, annoying, cry baby ass. I want to marry her, have children with her, and grow old together. I love Imani and I'm gone always love her no matter what and she knows that." Brandon said, "Well I'm happy for you."

Jayden said, "I just can't wait till she wakes up. I miss her." Brandon said, "She will." He he grabbed Imani's hand, and her eyes popped open. She looked at Brandon, and her surrounding, scared as hell. Jayden ran to the door and called the doctors and nurses in.

Imani started to have a seizure, and the doctor and nurses ran into the room and kicked Jayden and Brandon out of the room. "Come on Imani stay with us!" the doctor said, and he put the defibrillator on her chest while looking at the monitor. Imani started to calm down, and the doctor smiled and said, "That's what I'm talking about." Imani started to breathe slowly, and the doctor and nurses started to cheer.

Afterwards, Brandon was standing in the doorway. Jayden smiled and said, "Hey baby." Imani slowly took her breathing mask off and said in a raspy voice, "I have to tell you some- something." Jayden leaned over to her and asked, "What is it?" She stuttered, "Br-Brandon."

He asked, "What about him?" She said, "Br-Brandon raped me." She put her breathing mask back on, and slowly closed her eyes to go to sleep. Jayden looked at the door, and Brandon wasn't standing there. He kissed Imani's forehead, and said, "Get some rest baby I will be back. Markel is here in the lobby. I love you." He grabbed his stuff and walked out of the room angrily.

Jayden arrived at his house and got out of his car. He ran inside the house and went to the closet. He pulled out his gun, but Brandon was behind him and said, "Drop it." He had a gun pointed at Jayden's head. Jayden smirked, drop the gun, and turned around. Brandon said, "I've always loved Imani. I'm the one who always had a crush on her. Ever since I killed her father I grew feelings for her and now I just can't stop them. How she gone feel when she leaves the hospital knowing her boyfriend got killed."

Jayden got upset and said, "Bro you supposed to be my blood nigga. I knew your ass was going to turn into a snake one day. You not shit and you think Imani is going to date you after you killed her father and raped her?" Brandon said, "Oh you're forgetting that I shot her as well. The bitch was just so damn clueless. She never even notice-" Jayden cut him off and said, "Bitch look at your stupid ass! You killed her father, you raped her, and shot her! You really believe she gone go with you after all that? You got another thing coming." Jayden chuckled, "I'm so done with you."

He tackled Brandon to the floor. He repeatedly punched him in the face. Brandon flipped him over and start punching him. They both continue fighting each other, and Diamond walked into the house. She looked at the fight and dialed 911.

Jayden started bleeding from his mouth and nose. Brandon grabbed one of the guns and pointed at him. "Any last words?" Brandon asked, and Diamond grabbed the bat and walked behind Brandon quietly. Jayden was on the floor out of breath and said, "Fuck you." Brandon clocks his gun and said, "Fuck you too."

Diamond hit Brandon in the back of the head with the bat. Brandon fell to the ground and dropped the gun. Jayden picked the gun up and Diamond said, "Don't kill him." Jayden was angry and hit Brandon in the face with the gun then dropped it. The police arrived at the scene and arrested Brandon.

"Brandon you are under arrest for the murder of Common Benson, and for raping and shooting Imani Benson," the officer said, while continuing to say his rights. Brandon looked at Diamond and Jayden, and said, "I'll be back. I always come back." He put his head down while shaking it. The police took Brandon to the car and put him in the back seat. She closed the door and got in the car and drove off.
