Chapter 16

It was finally the beginning of summer, and Imani was eating while Jayden was in the bed watching tv. Imani sat her food down and ran to the toilet to throw up. Imani has been throwing up lately. She has been feeling sick and she doesn't know what's wrong with herself. Jayden walked into the bathroom and held her hair back.

"Baby you okay?" he asked, and she nodded her head and said, "Yeah. I think so." Jayden said, "Come on let's go to the hospital." She said, "Okay." When they got to the hospital they were sitting in the room. The doctor came into the room and said, "Okay your results are back and congratulations. You are two weeks pregnant."

He handed her a pregnancy book with her results. Imani grabbed the book and paper. She looked at Jayden and the doctor and said, "I can't be pregnant." The doctor said, "Data doesn't lie." Imani teared up and asked, "I'm really pregnant?"

The doctor nodded his head and said, "Yes." Jayden was shocked and he put his head in his palms. He mumbled, "Damn." The doctor said, "When you're ready I'll show y'all out. You will need to make an appointment." Imani nodded her head and said "Okay."

She looked at Jayden, and he sat back in his chair. He knew this was going to be hard for her because she bought to be a junior next month while being pregnant. Her whole sophomore year has been fucked up and now she pregnant.

When they got to the house, Imani ran in the room and broke down crying. She grabbed a pillow and screamed into it. Jayden rubbed her back and said, "It's okay." She looked at him and said, "None of this is okay. None of this will ever be okay! I can't believe this is happening to me!"

She cried harder. "My mom and dad wanted me to wait till after high school or college. Jayden I'm bout to be a junior I can't be pregnant. I just can't, she said, while continuing to cry. He pulled her into a hug, and she cried in his chest. He said, "Calm down. It's going to be fine. I'm here and we are going to raise this baby together. Just breathe. I know it's hard but we are going to get through this. We always do." She was still crying and nodded her head.

"Look at me," he said, and she looked at him while wiping her eyes."We gone be a good happy family. I love you so much," he said. She said, "I love you too." "We gone be together forever right?" he asked. She nodded her head and said, "Yes."

"I love you Imani Benson and I always will no matter what," he said, and he kissed her forehead. "I love you more," she said. He looked into her eyes, while Common spirit stood in the doorway. Jayden and Imani looked at the door then looked at each other and laughed. They knew Common was standing in the doorway, because Common came into Imani's dream and told her that he'll always be watching her. Common faded away, and Jayden and Imani looked at each other and kissed and shared a hugged.
