~ 5 days before the accident ~
Scott’s POV
The previous night I have been drinking just like a few months ago when the guys took Kirstie and me out for some drinks as a celebration for our two-year anniversary. I needed to clear my head and it obviously worked, I think. When I woke up, my head was pounding and my stomach was not happy at all. I open my eyes to find Kirstie, dressed and ready for the day, watching me.
“You’re awake!” she said sarcastically happy.
“What’s with the sarcasm?” I asked.
“Scott, we need to talk.”
Why did she ignore my question?
“What about? Are you breaking up with me?” I asked worried.
“Your drinking and no, I’m not Scotty.” She answered.
My drinking? What’s wrong with it? I didn’t drink that much.
“What about my drinking Kirst?”
“Everything! You shouldn’t drink, let alone get drunk.”
Kirstie’s POV
Trying to explain to Scott that drinking is bad is like telling a toddler that lying is bad but they do it anyways.
“I don’t get drunk Kirstie.” Scott told me.
I beg to differ.
“Do you remember how we got back to my place? Why we left?” I asked.
No answer.
“I prove my point. Scott, you need to stop drinking. You are going to heart someone you care about.” I told him
He seemed shocked by what I said.
“Kirst, I’m fine. I’m not going to hurt anyone.”
“How do you know? Do you remember what happened to Mitch? His alcoholic ex-boyfriend?” I asked angrily.
“Of course I remember. I was there.” He replied getting quiet at the end. “This is stupid! Why are you so worried?” he continued.
“Scott, it is not stupid. I’m worried if we ever have a child that you will harm it, me, the rest of the group, or yourself unintentionally when you’re drunk. You know what…I’m done. Call me when you’re sober and stop drinking so carelessly or stop drinking altogether.”
With that I walked out and headed to Mitch and Scott’s apartment.
