Stacey's P.O.V.
"Ashy!" Claire screamed, running downstairs and latching onto his leg.
"Chipmunk!" he said, showing just as much enthusiasm as she had.
She beamed up at him before looking over at Alice.
"You came, are you going to help me do make up?" Claire asked.
"Well, of course," Alice nodded.
"Yay!" she cheered, clapping her hands.
I suddenly realized her hair was dry and she had on the same outfit as earlier.
"Claire, did you shower?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Nope," she giggled, shaking her head.
Kyle gave her a look and pointed upstairs as he pointed his head in the same direction. Claire nodded and quickly ran upstairs. After a few minutes of silence, we heard the shower water running.
"That girl," Ky chuckled, shaking his head. "She is so stubborn."
"Hm, I wonder where she would have ever learned to be that way," I teased, giggling.
He made a face and stuck his tongue out at me. I laughed and copied him.
"Okay, children, settle down," Ashton chuckled, walking over to the two seated couch with Alice.
"Yes sir," Kyle and I saluted.
"Haha, very funny," Ashton smiled.
"You set yourself up for that one," Alice smiled, patting his arm.
"Yea, I am aware of that," he sighed in defeat.
The shower water turned off upstairs and we heard the small pitter patter of footsteps on the stairs a few minutes later.
"Bubby, I'm all clean now," Claire cheered, climbing onto the couch between us.
"Good, I am so proud," he smiled, kissing her wet head.
"Can I eat a snack before we get ready?" she asked, looking at Alice and I.
"That sounds like a plan," Alice nodded.
She jumped off the couch and walked to the kitchen and I heard the fridge open.
"Surprise, string cheese," Kyle chuckled.
After Claire finished her cheese, Alice and I followed her upstairs with her and to her makeshift bedroom.
"Lets see what dress you want to wear tonight," I said, opening the closet.
Alice and I began taking out some dresses. After we had several choices, we let her decide which one she wanted.
"I want to wear," Claire began, pausing to analyze her choices. "That one."
She pointed to a sky blue dress with a brown belt around the waist. I made sure she had a cardigan or jacket that would go with it since the wind has been strong lately and the dress was sleeveless.
"Alright, girl, lets get your hair and makeup done so you and Kyle are on time," I smiled.
She squealed and sat at the makeshift vanity I made for the night. As Alice began her makeup, I began doing her hair. Before this we had both agreed that since she was a kindergartner we did not want to do anything big, rather keep it simple. So I curled her hair and used bobby pins to pin both sides back as Alice applied minimal blush, glitter eye shadow, and nude lipstick with shiny lip gloss over it. We had planned on it only taking half an hour, but because Claire was so excited, she kept moving so it took 45 minutes.
