Patrice

Michael,

Brenda is your soulmate. Whether she's married to Prince or not. Whether you move on or not.

You will never love me or any other woman enough to give a child.

I'm walking away after all this time because I'll never be good enough for you.

No matter what, you'll always compare other people to her. She'll always be your weakness.

I'm tired of being second-best.

Goodbye,

- Patrice Renee Cooper

I couldn't take the pain anymore. It was best to just move on without a relationship.

Mom protested my bitter approach, but I wouldn't listen. No one gave a damn about me.

No one seemed to even look at me anyway. As I've said, only flashy and outgoing chicks gained attention these days.

Heartbroken, I focused on the company as usual and always  returned to an empty bed at night.

My heart  didn't even care about loneliness at this point. There was no other choice given the circumstances.

Bass rumbled outside the closed door as I scribbled weekly notes and nodded along to Janet.

Most of the plans involved wardrobe and my staff would flock towards countless locations once again. Nothing out of the ordinary.

In the middle of another busy day behind this desk, my telephone shrilled for attention.

"Hello?" I didn't know what to think until after picking up. The music continued blasting, but my ears ignored everything else.

"Hey, Patrice." Brilliant keyboardist Kimberly Walker answered on the other line. I smiled without hesitation.

"Hey, girl! It's been quite a while since the wedding.  How can I help you?" I perked up my voice and shut this planning notebook.

"Great! The album's gone platinum overseas and I've sold out gigs of in London." As of late, Kim finally released her second album with an independent label  after leaving Epic Records.

"Are you kidding me? No way!" I almost chuckled out loud.  Television reports and magazines swarmed with details about her.

Otherwise,  Prince wasn't promoting "Under The Cherry Moon." I'd visit him and Brenda soon enough.  Despite all the drama. A wedlock baby never even changed my mind about those two. Especially when Prince refused to divorce his pregnant wife.

"How is B doing?" I asked Kim honestly. Brenda Michelle  grew more and more with every passing moment whenever I spoke with Prince on the phone.

"Bored out of her mind and just  wants the baby out." Kim laughed. Apparently, "Little Knick Knack" would arrive days  before Thanksgiving.

"Tell her I said to keep her head up. Once that baby's here, the pain is over." I encouraged.

At the moment, we all now pushed through summertime. There were about five more months left to go.

"Of course. Bye, girl." Kim answered one last time.

Even Michael kept a low profile outside of the gigantic career.  I just knew. There was no other choice given the circumstances.

"Bye." I hung up.

If anyone leaked details about this pregnancy to the media, Brenda, Prince, and Michael would definitely sue.

I'd threaten with the same tactics. My children would never  see those overbearing cameras. No point.  Their faces wouldn't mean anything to media outlets.

Adrenaline encouraged me to fly and visit my wife. Even after jamming in Wyoming for the concert. I'd sadly in the morning, touring once again.

The living room seemed quiet and completely dimmed. Even my heels clicked against the wooden floor.

I knocked gently against the bedroom door just in case Monty slept tonight.  A watchful nurse slumped onto the couch, flipping through channels of this silenced television. We exchanged small grins due to the midnight hour

"Come in." Monty weakly croaked from inside the bedroom door.

"Hey, Skip." Monty whispered at this point. I closed the door behind me and removed my heels before walking over.

"Hey, Baby. How are you feeling?" A black maternity dress shaped her growing belly. That curly lion mane swooped across her forehead.

"Nikki keeps kicking, but I'm all right." Only exhaustion ran across the face of my wife as she held onto her stomach.  No dark make-up this time.

"Let me pray that she don't catch an attitude like her Mommy. One feisty Jersey girl is enough for me." I chuckled before kissing her lips.

"What about Kay?" Monty folded both arms after straining to sit up against the pillows. Barely eaten dinner rest on the nightstand, plated.

"I told you. We had a past, but she doesn't have the ring. You do." I shook my head before long.

"I love you." Monty trailed off words, finally sleeping. Silence filled the room without hesitation.

I curled up my body against my wife's belly  after taking off this sweaty white suit.

Out of habit, she held onto my hair as we both lulled into slumber. No better feeling in this entire  world.

Mo,

I forgive you.

We all make mistakes.

Regardless of this drama, I promise to love you for the rest of my life. I've wanted you for as long as I could remember.

I promise to cherish your  precious little girl. Even though she isn't even mine.

Nikki will always have a place in my heart. You will always have a place in my heart.

No matter what, I'll be here for you. Sugar, you're my best friend. Now and forever.

Please know that you mean the world to me. I will never leave you again.

Your love,

-Prince Rogers Nelson
