The brothers were packing up in their tent. Flippy couldn't belive that they were coming back home. Fliqpy looked a bit confused but he didn't say much.
The weirdest part was that they could stay there as much as they wanted until the higher ranks would call them back in to the battlefield.
Hey, his brother has just slaughtered an entire base, he deserved some kind of reward. And a lot of rest at home.
Flippy was worried about his brother, as always. The sparkle of craziness he saw in his eyes back at the enemy's base didn't fade away. He's taken some time to bandage his hands and it looked like self harming. Flippy swore to himself that he would help him get better during their time at home. After all, it was his fault if he ended up like this.
They stepped out of their tent and walk towards the helicopter meeting point. They were going home.

....................

Fliqpy had mixed feelings. He was still mad, about everything, still annoyed at himself after the mission, and feeling guilty despite seeing his brother has probably forgiven him. It wouldn't help.
On the other hand, he was glad that he would see their parents again. Despite the fact that they were their foster parents, it felt like they were their real ones. The two of them ended up in an orphanage after their parents were killed, since they came from a war torn country. The two stuck together creating a strong bond between themselves, always together wherever they go, whatever they do. They were scared that in the orphanage they'd be separated, adopted by different people. But they weren't. This family, who couldn't have kids of their own was kind enough to adopt them both, when they were only five years old, and raised them like their own. It felt amazing to have a family again, and now they could barely even remember their biological parents.
He felt bad for making them worried through all these missions, his issues that caused them to be constantly on the edge. He didn't know if he could make it up to them - or to his brother in this case. But he knew he didn't feel good about himself or about anything, he had so much rage inside of him, he couldn't let anyone get close to his brother, he couldn't let himself slip up now or make a mistake. He would train harder to be stronger, he would do anything to keep his family safe.

(Timeskip for the love of apple juice!)

They were standing in front of their house. Being here, caused Flippy to remember the first time they came back. This time it was much worse. Their foster parents haven't seen Fliqpy since the moment everybody thought he died, and they were coming back after a big fiasco that could have killed them.
Flippy too a deep breath and knocked on the door. The two heard footsteps almost running to the door, before it flew open. Their foster mom looked at them with a face filled with so many emotions, but the one to stand out the most was relief, immediately followed by pride. Before anyone could say anything, she pulled them both in a big hug.
Flippy was a bit surprised but hugged back.

.......................

"You got us worried sick" she looked at Fliqpy and playfully hit him on the head "Don't you ever dare to die again on me like that!"

She chuckled and let them in.
The house was full of a smell of baking cake that reminded Flippy of when they were younger. The time were they used to run around the house, playing soldier and getting scolded by their mother or father because they broke something or nearly made them fall by running into them. The time when becoming a soldier was a great thing and enemies were just pillows or plush toys. Yea, the time when they used to eat their foster dad's cake as a snack after playing outside in the forest.
God, how this house made him so nostalgic every time ? Flippy shook his head and went to greet their dad.

.......................

Fliqpy was glad to see their parents. His mother was worried about him, no surprise. He could bet he scared them both big time. He saw his brother looking around like it's been years since they've been here, although it was only a few weeks actually since their last leave. He also had a look, nothing has changed, but he could smell the baking. He followed his brother into the kitchen to greet their dad, who almost crushed them while hugging them and then they all just laughed. They told us to get sorted out because dinner would be ready shortly. Geez he still didn't want to eat, but he didn't want to make them worried so he told his mum he will eat a bit. She seemed glad. Fliqpy hasn't eaten in roughly three days now, probably because of the stress about that mission, before and after. At the moment he just didn't feel like eating, but it's not like he could say no on his first day back. When they walked upstairs, Flippy and him layed on their beds and just enjoyed the moment.
