Cody looked at his wife as they mounted their horses and made their way back to their realm, back home. He knew by the way she didn’t look at him and how she stared off into the distance that the decision the council had made was bothering her. “Alright, so what’s going on between those ears of yours?” he asked looking at her with those sea foam green eyes of his.

“I don’t want to lose our son,” Annabeth said looking into his eyes with hers. She felt a tear run down her cheek and wiped it away.

“We won’t lose our son,” he said to comfort her. But he knew that was a lie, this woman from the realm of Earth wasn’t going to give up that easily. “Lets just get home; we’ll talk about it more there.”

The rest of their hour travel there was a silent one. Both of them deep into their own thoughts, they didn’t know what to make of their situation. These new born heirs were very important. They would one day rule but not only that, the rulers, including Cody, knew that these were the heirs all the realms had been waiting for.

When they reached their castle’s stable, they dismounted and gave the reigns to their hired stable keeper and walked to the front gate. Cody’s great-great grandfather had moved the castle to the top of northern mountain range. He looked down to his realm below and smiled. The realm of water was almost like a tropical island yet it had the terrain of the plains. It was mostly flat with sandy beaches with just two mountain ranges, Northern and Southern, these mountains had many water falls and streams that cut through the plains and eventually flowed into the ocean. The streams were guarded with heavy forest as expected to be that close to the water.

Cody loved how blue and green his realm was. He loved how he would some day pass this paradise down to his son, Skylar Kit Pool. He turned back to the gate to see that Annabeth had already headed into the castle’s court yard.

He pushed the gate open and hurried into the yard. He found his wife sitting down on their favorite bench in the middle of courtyard, where the grand fountain was. It was flowing nicely and the water lilies in it were floating around. This fountain was the heart of a system of fountains that were spread out through the castle grounds. It was his grandfather’s idea to have this, to Cody this just added to the castle’s magnificence.

He sat down next to her and put his arm around her shoulder and pulled her close to him. Annabeth leaned her head on his chest and sighed, “Cody, what are we going to do?”

Cody kissed the top of her head, “All that we can do for now, spend as much time with our son and teach him everything we can”. He looked into Annabeth’s deep blue eyes, and gave her a small smile.

Annabeth would always make him smile, from her beauty to her wit. He ran his fingers through her long, silky black hair. Her brilliant blue tips were growing brighter; everyone’s color streak always did this when they were deep in thought. By the looks of it Annabeth was thinking pretty hard.

Cody stood up and held his hand out for Annabeth to take, he lead them to their son’s room. The sun was shining brightly through the room’s balcony’s glass doors. He walked to the crib where his son, Skylar was sound asleep. Annabeth stepped up to the crib beside him and grabbed Skylar out of the crib.

She cradled him in his arms and kissed his forehead, “I love you Skylar,” she whispered into his small ear. He stirred in her arms, let out a silent yawn and stretched his arms. He opened his eyes slightly and a smile pulled at his lips.

The sight melted Cody’s heart; he couldn’t stand the thought of this small bundle of joy being whisked away to an unknown world. He let a smile pull at his lips at that time as well. He held his arms out to tell his wife that he wanted to hold their son.

She gently passed him to Cody and he cradled him in his arms in a similar fashion Annabeth had only with just one of his arms. Skylar’s dirty blond hair was flat in the front and naturally spiky in the back. The boy opened his blue-green eyes; those eyes reminded him of his own when he was younger. His son stared up at his father with those eyes, full of curiosity.

Cody pushed the balcony doors open with his free arm to reveal to his son the view from his balcony. “You see this,” Cody said in soft playful voice, “this whole realm will be yours one day my son. Skylar you’re going to grow up to be the greatest king this realm will ever see”. He stepped back into the room and laid his son back into the crib, where he fell asleep once again.
