Jennifer had just been minding her own business in the convent, practicing some spells and reading up on her history. Then at around noon Mitsuko had come rushing into the convent looking for the head sorcerer. Jennifer had led her to the master where Mitsuko had asked for the most powerful sorcerer there. To Jennifer’s surprise the master had said her name. That was when Mitsuko had turned around as quickly as possible and took her by the wrist and drug her out. She had briefed Jennifer on the horse ride to the Council Room. And now they were all here looking at her.
Jennifer Koki looked to be in her late teen years, she had curly light brown hair, its tips colored an emerald green, her eyes a light hazel color, and it looked like she had been training very hard for a very specific reason. Jennifer looked around the room at the rulers of the realms; she could just feel the power of these individuals. As a sorceress she was trained to pick up on energy vibes from everyone in the room she was in, this helped her analyze her opponents and this room was full of energy and huge waves of them.
“So,” she began, “may I ask who it is that we’re transporting to the Earth,” she looked around the room again and the windows got her eye. So odd, she thought but the thought passed and she looked at the people who filled the grand room.
Then she noticed Cody Pool the ruler of the realm of Water was looking directly in her eyes. “So I take it you know exactly why you are here,” he asked her with a very serious look on his face.
“Yes sir, I know the exact reason why I am here,” she responded.
“Well then young lady,” he said taking a step in her direction, “please do tell me why you are here.”
“I am here to transport two VIPs to Earth, actually toAmericaif you wanted me to be specific.” She gave them a sly smile.
Cody laughed, “I like this girl,” he said turning to Mitsuko, “You did well Mits.”
“She’s got spunk,” Zachery Westgate, the king of the realm of Light, said, “I like that.” He chuckled, “we probably all need some of that considering the circumstances”.
“Thank you sir,” Jen said politely.
“Ha, Zach,” Dustan Archer, king of the realm of Earth, rolled his eyes and continued; “you’re the one saying that. Then it must mean we all need a little pick me up,” he smiled slightly.
“Well now that we know the girl has the brains and is much like us when not stressed,” James Striker, ruler of the realm of Darkness started to say, “may we continue with what we came here to do.” His jaw muscles were bunched and he looked a little upset.
“Yes, yes James, you’re right,” Cody said sitting down in the grand chair that looked more like a portable throne where its head had the crest of the realm of Water on the back. “Please, Jennifer take a seat,” he motioned to the round table in front of him.
“Thank you sir, but I’m comfortable with standing,” she started, “if we’re going to do the spell that you all are asking for, I’m going to need more details”. She stood with her arms crossed.
“Right,” Mitsuko said taking her seat next to her husband, Stanley Plight, Jenifer had heard his name once or twice in important Realm News. “David, since it was your idea, please, do explain it to the young sorceress here,” she made a motion for him to stand up, which he did.
David stood holding Jenifer’s stare the whole time, “Young sorceress, your assignment is simple,” he began still looking her in the eyes, frowning, “you are to send our two friends here, Stanley and Mitsuko Plight, to the world called Earth. That is if you are up to it.” He raised a brow.
Jennifer smiled slightly, “Sir, with all due respect, I don’t think there are that many sorcerers with the kind of power that you all are looking for”.
David frowned, “Like I said it is totally up to you”.
“I accept this assignment sir,” she said now determined.
“Good, now may we get started”?
“No, not really,” she took another step towards the round table, “I need to know when and where I am sending them”.
“The time is the current year andAmerica,Californiawould be a good destination,”Stanleysaid after being silent for quite a while.
“Good,” Jennifer said rolling up the sleeves of her sorceress robe, “we can get started now”.
~~~
Cody stood staring at the open field they had moved to. Jennifer had told them to make a circle around Stanley and Mitsuko, with opposites across from each other, Jennifer herself stood on the outside of the circle.
“What do we have to do,” Carissa asked standing with crossed arms across from Cody, her opposite.
“Nothing,” Jennifer said, “this magic feeds off the energy of the beings surrounding it. And trust me the energy here is a lot more than actually needed.” She paced around the circle hands on her hips.
“Can we get started,” Zachery said his miss-matched eyes showing the determination they all felt at that moment.
“Yeah, sure,” Jennifer said mid stride. She anchored her feet in the ground and let her hands hang loose at her sides, “Alright, I’m going to need everyone of you to focus on Stanley and Mitsuko,” she took a deep breath. They all nodded and set their stares on Stanley and Mitsuko.
Jennifer started saying something that Cody couldn’t understand, it sounded like a different language. Then she said something that he actually understood, “Light,” then from a column of light came out from Zachery and Cody heard him scream in anguish. “Darkness,” she said next and like the column of light, a column of darkness came from James and like Zachery he screamed in anguish.
Cody didn’t know what kind of magic this was but he wondered now what they were feeling, he heard David and Dustan next one after the other. Then Carissa’s scream filled his ears. “And now Water,” he heard Jennifer say, it was the last thing he heard before his own screams of pain filled his ears. This was the full extent of an heir’s power, it was like the water that in cased his body, not only came from around him but it came from inside him. It was a pain he had never felt before, yet he could feel the power in it all, the power that now coursed through the veins in his body.
“Now combine and send these two travelers to the world they seek to be in!” he heard Jennifer shout. Then the columns the six produced came to the center and combined, there was a white hot flash and then it all collapsed, including all six of them.
They were all on their hands and knees panting, “You guys alright,” Cody asked after he found his voice.
“Does it look like we’re okay,” he heard someone say it sounded like Dustan, but he wasn’t sure. He pushed himself up to his knees and blinked away the blur that blocked his vision.
They all sat on the grass now, staring at the empty middle where Stanley and Mitsuko had been standing. They were gone, nothing left in their place, nothing but charred grass.
Jennifer let out a sigh and sank to her knees, “I- I did it,” she said almost to herself, “I’m sorry for the pain, but this magic is much deeper than anyone will be able to understand”.
Cody and the rest just sat there trying to catch their breath, “So, they’re gone,” he asked the obvious question.
“Yes, they’re on Earth now.” She said calmly, looking at the empty spot as well.
“Where did you send them,” Carissa asked.
“Where they wanted to be sent,California,” Jenifer responded.
“What now,” Zachery asked.
“Now we go home and think of our next move,” Cody said and got up to his feet. He started making his way back to the council room, where there would be two new empty seats.
