( A/N: I suck at naming things. The title of this chapter is a work in progress. I'm sorry to any readers whom I made cringe with just by looking at this title. Also this chapter will be entirely in Adrien's POV.)
Adrien's POV:
Chat paced back and forth on a Parisian rooftop. He had transformed back into Chat Noir and gone to the roof near his princess's home. He looked nervously at the glowing pink balcony that tainted the dull Parisian night skyline. He knew that his princess had said goodbye to that boy... Peter.
Now it was his turn to go and visit her. And he truly did dread this. He feared rejection and a broken heart afterwards. "Ok... Ok. Relax, Chat. It's not like she knows you like her right?" He said to himself. He was actually going to do this. He would do this. Tonight.
***************Time skip brought to you by my inability to think things through***************
He sat on the balcony, balancing his weight perfectly on the barricade that kept Marinette from falling from the roof, moving carefully over to perch on the small table on Marinette's balcony. He listened to her voice, her sweet giggles echoing from the room. She was his princess. He wasn't going to lose her. Not again. He was so lost in thought, he fell back, making a huge "Thud!" sound in the process. He heard the giggles stop, whispering, and steps coming towards the door. He began panicking, shivering with anxiety. He wanted to run. He wanted to be anywhere, be doing anything but this. The trap door opened, revealing the beauty of the raven haired girl.
"Chat?" She asked curiously. Chat got up and gave her his best winning smile. "H-hello purrincess. How are mew this fine evening?" He asked. He smiled at her when she rolled her eyes at his puns, but a small smile barely visible on her face. "Why are you on the floor?" She asked, an amused spark dancing in those beautiful bluebell eyes. He was suddenly thankful for the mask he wore, feeling heat rising to his cheeks. "Well, I was, uh... testing the strength of the floor!" He almost yelled.
Marinette began to laugh, causing him to give her a shy smile, and laugh awkwardly in return. Once both stopped Marinette opened the trap door, and motioned him inside. "Come on Chat! It's getting cold out so why don't you come inside. I've got cookies." She said. At the mention of cookies, Chat's ears perked up. He had been so nervous that he had forgotten to eat. He got up, dusting himself off, and he jumped inside, landing on Marinette's bed. Marinette carefully made it down the steps, closing the trap door. "I'll be right back Chat, I'm gonna go bring you some cookies and some milk." She said, her eyes twinkling. Chat gave her his trademark Cheshire smirk, which he would normally have used on ladybug.
Chat soon became bored and decided to look around her room. It was perfectly pink, and just plain cute. His eyes wandered around, soon landing on adorable little potted plant sitting on her desk. He walked over to it, and smiled. He began to feel the sudden urge to knock it over the edge of the desk, but decided against it, just because he felt like his princess would be angry if her did. Thankfully, it didn't take long for him to notice something else on her desk. It was a little notebook outside of the box (that seemed very familiar) in which it belonged to. Chat remembered back to the time Sabrina had tried to take Marinette's diary. He finally seemed to realize that the box was a sort of protection for this little notebook, Marinette's diary.
His curiosity began to make him consider opening the little pink book, however, he knew THAT saying: curiosity killed the cat. But satisfaction brought it back~! His Chat Noir side argued. Maybe, just maybe, Marinette wouldn't mind if he read just a little... right?
He began to reach for the little book, and just as he was about to open it, when he heard the door open, making him jump up a little. "What are you doing you silly kitty?" Spoke a playful voice from behind him. He turned around, and managed a somewhat dopey smile, an embarrassed blush dusting his cheeks. "N-nothing! Nothing at all, purrincess!" His eyes landed on his princess, her playful smirk, and sparkling blue eye that seemed so familiar to him. The scent of chocolate chip cookies lingering in the air around her. In her hands, she balanced a plate of cookies and two cups of milk.
Chat Noir's stomach growled, and his mouth watered, already imagining the sweet taste of the cookies. Marinette smiled, handing him his glass of milk and motioning him to follow her. She climber the stairs leading up to her bed. Chat followed slowly, immediately forgetting the anxiety he felt earlier, and shoving a few cookies in his mouth, provoking adorable giggles from the raven haired girl. "Honestly, I start to wonder if they feed you at home." Marinette said in between laughs. Chat smiled, "They do! It's just I've never eaten anything this good!" He stated matter-of-factly, grabbing another cooking and taking a sip of his warm milk.
They spent most of their time together, laughing and making small talk, before Marinette asked him the question he had been dreading all night. "Chat? Is there a reason you came so late?" Chat's heart dropped, the anxiety from earlier returning. Chat, felt the pressure rising, but he pushed it down, and swallowed, trying to steady his breathing. He felt Marinette's hand on his shoulder, as she leaned forward, trying to look him in the eye. "Chat? You can tell me anything. I won't judge." She said, worry clouding her beautiful bluebell eyes.
The anxiety he felt seemed to calm slightly just by meeting her eyes. He inhaled deeply, and exhaled, fighting back a few panicked breaths. "Alright princess. You've got me." He said, trying his best to laugh away the stress. Darn it, if I don't tell her now, I never will! And Plagg's never gonna let me live it down. He thought.
"Look, Marinette, I... I, um... I wanted to apologize, for what I did. I just, don't know what came over me!" He said, lowering his head, his cat ears, without a doubt, were drooping. "I was my fault! I shouldn't have stayed! I shouldn't have ruined your date!" He said, raising his voice a little louder. His eyes were burning, he felt tears welling up, the same ones he had been fighting down since the beginning of the night. "Look! I just..." He yelled, his voice breaking and tears slipping from his eyes.
No... You can't cry. Not now! Not in front of Mari! He thought, lowering his head more trying to avoid Marinette's worried gaze. He tried steadying his breathing, and wiping his eyes. Nothing worked. He got up, about to leave. But he felt someone grab his wrist and pull him down, pulling him into a hug. He sobbed, no longer caring about his pride. "Shh... it's ok Chat. It's alright..." Cooed the soft and comforting voice of Marinette. She continued to whisper soft words of encouragement. "It's alright kitty." She told him as soon as he calmed down.
"I'm sorry Mari..." He said, "I'm so sorry. I just, couldn't stand to see you with him. I did everything... all because I was jealous, princess." He said, as calmly as he could muster. He looked up at Marinette, seeing her expression of shock, and... love? "Chat..." She whispered. She pulled him into another hug, to which Chat felt as if it had happened before. He didn't understand why. "I love you, Mari." He whispered. They pulled away, and looked at each other. Marinette's eyes seemed to glow. They both leaned in, and kissed. It was all perfect.
A/N: I'm still alive!!! I finally figured out what to write, because my poor dumb brain survived torture from high school, and a life without WiFi at home! 9th grade is practically OVER! And I have not slept in forever! I've forgotten what being energetic felt like, but now, I'm gonna try to post chapters as soon as I can. Also, if anyone has any idea what to rename this chapter please just post a comment. (As I have stated countless times before, I suck at naming things.) I apologize for not this story or updating any chapters. And so I shall be working on drawing a Marichat sketch in return for the peoples who read this mess. Again, I'm sorry!
