CHAPTER 7

"So we're staying in separate cottages, Sis and Charlotte, Grace and Bright, and Sophia and Me. Okay? Okay. Soo..." Coke reads off the schedule. "Go unpack your stuff and uh, we'll meet in the Buffet Place at twelve, yeah?"

Sophia looks absolutely delighted to be in the same cottage as Coke.

"So," Stuffy says, shooting a dirty look at me before continuing. "We stay in the same place?" She gazes at him with such a disgustingly intense level of adoration and longing flirtation.

"Um, you're not deaf, Sophia, you heard me," Coke answers. Sophia looks stunned at the rude remark.

"Cole..." Ma'am Carolyn says reproachfully.

Grace is laughing so hard right now, that she snorted. "S...sor...ry!" She's starting to turn red.

"What's so funny, Greasy?" Sophia snaps. "Too Greasy for your own good?"

Grace shuts up immediately but glares at her. "Yeah, right, Stuffy. Look who's gonna get all greasy when you stuff your stuffy face in the Buffet Place."

"Grace," Ma'am Carolyn starts.

"She started it!"

I press my palm to my forehead and groan. So much for a relaxing holiday. Suddenly, I feel a hand slip around my arm, pulling me away from the petty juvenile fight.

"What?" I ask Coke as he leads me behind a cottage, toward a hammock.

"Their pretty annoying, Sis and Stuffy," Coke shrugs, settling down on the gently swaying hammock. "Sit beside me." He pats the space beside him.

"N...no, I don't- COKE!" I scream when he grabs my wrist, causing me to fall beside him, the hammock swinging wildly from side to side.

It's so uncomfortable, me beside him. I could smell the lemony scent of his perfume. Suddenly, I feel a bit self conscious.

"This is nice," Coke says, laughing slightly.

"For you, m...maybe," I scowl shifting farther away from him. Coke closes his eyes and smiles a serene smile.

"Why didn't you ever have one?" he asks, eyes still closed.

"A...a what?"

"A boyfriend."

"Uh," I say, self conscious than ever. "I...I don't know. I'm boring."

"Mmm. Really? You think so?" Coke turns my way on his side, his face inches from mine.

His eyes are just so beautiful. I can't even think straight.

"I guess," I answer breathlessly.

We stare at each other for a while before I blink and turn away, facing the bright blue sky above us. The clouds are white and fluffy.

"Nice sky," I say vaguely.

"You know," Coke says softly. "I really-"

"Where did they go?"

"That boy..."

Coke shoots me a goofy look. "There they are."

I start blushing like crazy. "Um..." I say like an idiot.

They appear in less than a second. Then they spot us together in a hammock.

Sophia and Grace looks definitely stumped when she sees me and Coke. By the expressions of worry on their faces, they were looking for us, Sophia for Coke, and Grace for me.
