Their mornings always went in a hurry. After sharing their cup of tea with the newspaper, he went on to iron their clothes while she prepared their lunch. That wasn't all though, between getting up and leaving the house, they had many small and big tasks to take care of. And they did them all in a hurry.

But the real drama used to start when they had locked their door and were ready to leave.

She would quickly slip her legs in sandals and run towards the car, all the while expecting him to be right on her heels. Alas, he was never there. Irritatingly, she would glance back just to find him sitting on their shoe stand, untying and tying the knots of his shoes.

"Why?" she had asked one day, eyes flaring red.

"Because it's needed," he shrugged it off in the morning hurries.

Later in the evening, he sat down to explain. "You see," he said pointing towards the shoelaces, "If I tie them too tight, they may take a while to break free when I need them too. But if I keep them loose, they may come off on their own making me trip over. It may seem like a small job, but it is important. It has to be perfect."

All she could do was stare at him with her eyes wide. For the girl who was used to wearing her sandals in a second, spending so much time to tie the knots was an utter and unnecessary waste of time. She could never understand the need for it.

But for him, it was the most important job of the morning.
