Just like every other morning, she watched him gulp down a cold cup of tea. She couldn't even imagine her mornings without a steaming hot tea and here was someone who liked his tea cold.
"Why?" she had naturally been curious one day.
"Because I want to have the taste of it," he replied ever so casually.
She shrugged it off, a gesture pretty familiar to him.
"What? It's not that tough to understand."
"For someone who knows the value of her tea being hot, it is."
He nodded in disappointment.
"You see, when your food is hot, it burns your tongue. And so, to avoid that ugly sensation, you never allow it to remain on your tongue for too long and try and gulp it down as quickly as possible. Sadly though, in your effort to have it hot, you forget to have a taste of it.
"Only when it's cold do you keep it on your tongue savouring the taste of it. That's the only time when you actually taste it."
There was indeed some sense in his nonsense. But it didn't change her perception at all.
He can have as many cold cups of tea as he likes, she will always prefer her tea to be steaming hot.

"Things should always be kept warm, neither hot, nor cold. An overdose of anything is not good for health."
