Chapter 5: (Aomine)

Aomine POV:

My eyes scan for Tetsu as I walk through the crowded courtyard. I know it will be hard to find him, especially if I let myself focus on his presence but I can't help myself. The crowd scatter before me and I feel like Moses with the sea parting at my feet. Sometimes, at times like these, I'm glad for the title of Generation of Miracles. Unlike Kise though, I don't bask in the popularity. I have my own share of fans but it seems like too much effort. I'm too lazy to care that much. At this point, as I near the basketball booth, I know Tetsu knows I'm here. I can almost feel this gaze on me. I also know that he wouldn't be standing with the rest of the group handing out fliers, nor would he be at the booth. No one would notice him anyways. I come to the realization that Tetsu wouldn't want to draw attention to himself and talking to me would do just that. I walk up to the basketball table. I lean in and whisper into Riko's ear. "I'm gonna be joining the team. Here's my form. It's filled out. Don't tell Tetsu. I'll do it myself. I'll be in the gym. Tell Tetsu when he asks." She just stares. Then nods slowly after a second. "How do you know he'll ask?" She asks. "Don't worry, I know Tetsu. He already has his eyes on me." I bark out a laugh and turn away. "Thanks Coach!" I yell behind me as I stroll off towards the gym. My attitude radiates as I walk, not bothering to look behind me. I know Tetsu is close behind. I don't need to look in order to confirm it. As I enter the gym, I take a look around and smile. This'll be my school gym for the next year. I never thought I'd be going to Serin but it's a good fresh start for me. I'll have to ease into relying on my team but I know that with Tetsu's help, I'll get there and the two of us will be unstoppable. Not even Kagami could get in our way.
