Chapter Twelve

At long last, when we get back the hotel, we have to get changed into something nice for the welcome home party. I find Avrox at long last and he has a dress all ready for me. A beautiful sky blue with little bits of fluff representing clouds. My hair is in a messy bun and a hat is put into my hair. A hat with netting on a blue band for my hair. Effie walks in and stops dead in her tracks. A huge smiles comes onto her face." Oh, Avrox! You've really outdone yourself!" She says. I smiles back at her." Come on, Alaya! Time for your party!" She says."What about Gardoir?" I ask her."He's down there already!" She replies while fixing her pink wig. Effie leads me down to the party. I see my dad and look away sharpish,remembering what Ito said about her being his ex lover. I see Gardoir looking handsome in a black suit with a blue tie patterned with clouds. I smile when I see him walking towards me." Hello Miss Survivor" he says to me. I giggle." Just because I won the Hunger Games doesn't mean we're safe. My mom and dad won and they had to-"
"Win the Quell. I know" Gardoir says."Your moms Katniss. Of course she won!" He finishes off.

I walk to the buffet table. There's finger foods and sweet desserts that I've never seen before. There's a big cake in the middle of the table with "Congratulations Alaya and Gardoir!"  written on it. Gardoir walks over to me and pulls me close to him. He puts his strong lips on mine and starts kissing like no ones watching us at all. Like we're all alone in a room. I don't want this to stop." Cake time!" I hear Effie shout. We pull away." Cut the cake, dears!" Effie trills to us. I take the knife and Gardoir holds onto it as well. He helps me guide the knife to the cake to cut it. As the knife hits the icing, something catches my eye. A girl who looks like Gwen. Exactly same hair colour and features. Unless... Unless it IS Gwen...

I'm back in the same forest, I'm running again. Possibly from Clos again. My bow and arrow poised at the ready and the muttations running after me. An arrow comes my way and it's about to...

I wake up screaming. Good thing I'm near Gardoir. He holds me until I stop shaking enough to go back to sleep. I can't get to sleep even when I've stopped shaking. When he knows I'm still awake, he starts rocking me. Like when I rock Shimmer to sleep after a bad dream. It reminds me of home and I start crying quietly but Gardoir must've heard me sniff because he wipes my tears away and starts singing "The Hanging Tree". It's so soothing I go to sleep. After a while, he lets go of me and goes back to sleep.
